About workshops

Workshops on Neopoet are groups that meet for a certain period of time to focus on a certain aspect of poetry. Each workshop participant is asked to critique all the other poems submitted into a workshop. A workshop leader helps coordinate -- they set the agenda, give participants feedback on whether their submissions and critique are at they level expected of them, and after the workshop is over, give feedback to participants.

To join a workshop, first find one that is of interest to you. Once you have found the right workshop (and verified that it is open -- you can find this out in the description below), you can apply to join the workshop.

Join the Neopoet online poetry workshop and community to improve as a writer, meet fellow poets, and showcase your work. Sign up, submit your poetry, and get started.

Write a collaborative poem

I haven’t asked anyone yet. It would definitely be interesting to add some more poets.

Hopefully that will drum up some curiosity and get us some more participants.

Join in our collaborative poem workshop. Each member will have a chance to write two stanzas at least four lines each. The stanzas must be relative to the poem.

I am so very excited for this! It is going to be great!

To have you aboard! Welcome!!!!

Thanks

Be a vibrant component of our Neopoet community for the future by talking with other Neopoets.

We will start the 10th and use a late list, if need be.
Thanks for your patience,

Be a vibrant component of our Neopoet community for the future by talking with other Neopoets.

We go by the workshop member list from top to bottom.
Geezer passed so I (Mark) will be starting off.
The first person (me) starts the new poem by making a title and writing a few stanzas.
The next person under on the list copies the title and stanzas previously done and pastes them to a new comment and then in that comment adds their few stanzas relative to all the previous stanzas.
The last person on the particular list closes the poem.
Geezer does some minor editing on the entire poem created and sends it down the stream.
The second person (in this case Geezer) begins a new poem.

When the last person on the member list begins a poem and that poem is finished the workshop concludes.

There is room for 2 new members and if they join then they go last on the list. They will need to read the comments and catch up.

I will be keeping track of who goes when but feel free to do so as well if you like.

Let's get it on!

I wish to be back in the day
We slept together on a pile of hay
Milky white skin she could send a hex
Make me a drunken toy for sex

We ran with bow and arrow
Sometimes only to have sparrow
But that damn Rex was always on our heels
Enough meat for hundreds of meals

Forty foot reptile steps on my roof

The dream sequence changes, dino and all
Springboards me into my recurrent fall

Begin Dystopia

One night she took me by the fire,
Asking if I was a liar,
When I asked her to be mine,
As life with her would be so fine.

I put the ring upon her hand,
Now together, exploring foreign land,
She would be my partner in crime,
For her I would give my last dime.

End: Dystopia
Start: Depressed 1

Depressed 1 8/11 in the AM to find out what's up. No pressure here we can all write in our own time.
Geezer has informed me that he will close this poem.
Thanks Geezer, its looking great to me.

Looked of fresh battle but smelled of old mud

Grabbed my sword and put on armor to wear
I knew that kill or be killed time had arrived
I must die so my only true love can survive

Begin Alan

Thus girded, I stepped out to meet my foe.
When the beast roared, and its teeth did show;
I shuddered like a child, chilled to my bones, so
I thought of David; his three smooth stones–but

even so, my heart sank, my courage crumbled;
with the latches of my helm I fumbled, then,
as I shrieked and threw my sword away–
I glimpsed M’Lady’s face go ashy gray...

End Alan

Alan, you are fine.
We'll wait some time for new members before Geezer finishes this first collaborative.
What do you all think thus far?
With the orderly fashion and speed we have moved at, this is a lot like a Shark Pool.
How about I change the pool to Shark?
Let us know your thoughts on that please.
Mark

I don't know if I can swim that fast;)

it is my turn to start one...do I start it under this post, or do I start a new thread?

Gezer will finish this one first.
But let's give it a day for new members because we still have openings for 2 more poets.

with changing the pool to Shark pool! I think everybody here swims fast enough. [It's only the last one in line that has to worry about getting eaten!] LoL

It seems that the days and hours that people
are available for chatroom are staggered and
not a good match for most everyone. How about
if everyone just shows up at the door, whenever
they have a few free minutes?

Alan and you, Geez, can keep it up to speed..

Now, I thought about running away
But I knew just what they would say
So I turned back around, grabbed the gun I found
And let loose with lead bullet spray

AR-15's are really quite mean
They spit out bullets in a big stream
So I finally got big old Dinosaur Rex
Went back to M'Lady and finished our sex!.

What a strange tale. Reads like something from Mad magazine. Are they hiring I wonder?

Great job by everyone! This is really quite fun.

That is good for me lol

I will be back to post the link to #2 here. But it will be under the Workshop tab anyhow.
