Ten bob hooker...

Ten bob hooker,

Street corners she uses
for easy cash,
hotel rooms are costly
always brash.
Scuffed boots she’s now
worn a while,
denim skirt short, frayed,
out of style.

Friendly pink or lace
that’s all gone,
had to grow up early
to face a horrid dawn.
Father was a good man
maybe to damn kind,
mother was weak
and always love blind.

Her life had been easy
hardships she‘d never known,
then mum and dad died
left her here all alone.
That she’d ever have to
stand on her own two feet,
had never crossed her mind
so here she is on the street.

A story written on a young
but old looking face,
time looks in mirrors
at a past you can’t replace.
The drugs help
they make her hot to trot,
now a part of life to
help get through the rot.

Pen name says it all but not
acquired from her new friends,
still it’s all she thinks her worth
on the game that never ends.
Started out as fun from her love
who’d always tease,
she remembers how he’d left
begging her, forgive him please.

He wanted another woman
this she’d never understood
tried to take her life
even then she was no good.
A string of handsome men
none who could compare,
Some they were persistent
but love just wasn’t there.

This is now her life
down where hell has always been,
Then ! he has come back,
to help her live her life clean.
But it’s only another punter,
asking if she’s on the job.
She smiles that sassy smile, winks,
don’t he know her name’s,
ten bob.

Hi Roscoe, a story I hate to read though you have told it as well as can be poeticized in your own style.

A couple of spellings need be addressed and I'd write: "Here she is on the street." in the 3rd stanza last line.

Thank you Ana, don't know where this one came from. Ten bob, I'm not sure if you know is ten shillings, or half a pound in old British sterling. Anyway thank you for commenting, i like what you suggested but i also like what i wrote, I will think on this and see what i come back with. Love Roscoe,,,

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.
