Infestation

                    Infestation

                An ancient God awakens,
                stretching fungus-grey tentacles
                towards the distant light;
                summoned by discordant chants
                and primordial sorcery

                He is neither good nor evil,
                but transcends both
                in his appetite for cosmic chaos;
                wallowing in his own filth,
                he slithers toward life

                A portal opens,
                and dragon-headed avatars
                roar of his arrival;
                then, slake their thirst
                on the blood of his minions

                Famished, he feeds,
                first on the chosen,
                then on the innocent;
                tasting no difference
                as he ingests their essence

                He copulates with demons,
                rendering them mindless
                as they devour his seed;
                then, he waits patiently,
                for the inevitable birth of humanity

Who says free verse isn't more effective with an underlying structure? NOT I.Guess we both need to venture to the unfamiliar occasionally eh,Lonnie.Stars speak to quality of work.......scribbler

oh man! dark, dark,

oh man! dark, dark, dark! And you know what? Honestly you are the only poet I know who pull it off without sounding like a deathmetal teenager or a suicidal drama queen. Bloody brilliant, mate! Great to see you pushing the envelope with your structure and form too. Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible,

Dear Lonnie

Your dark side is as brilliant as your bright side. I found a shiver up my spine as I read this piece. My favorite lines: He copulates with demons, rendering them mindless as they devour his seed; then, he waits patiently, for the inevitable birth of humanity Always, Cat

So, That was the birth

of evil! lol Sounds like the beginning of a good book. You say he is neither good nor evil, yet he sows the seeds of chaos and discord. Bloody gave me shivers and I found myself reading with this horrid look upon my face! I can appreciate the style you chose to write in. I do believe I like your rhyming work a smidgen better though. You do such a great job with your wording and flow on them. Still, well done, again! Always, Tonya

Thanks, Tonya!

Yeah, have to switch styles every once in a blue moon! I prefer the rhyme and meter as well, but have to show my versatility periodically so I don't look like a doggerel writer! Thanks for the nice comments!
