Looks Like Rain

Black are the clouds
that sweep from the sea,
crashing through trees
to thrash toward me

Objects are flying
the air is alive,
a storm that rumbles
in sheets it arrives

A roof is walking
without any soles,
and the pants of priests
hang off light poles

A street sign flys past
at the speed of light,
a police car follows
its headlights shine bright

Deep in the cellar
we shiver and shake,
as the world around
turns into a lake

And all this goes on
inside my head,
cause outside my window
the silence is dead

Jayne...

I am glad it was all in your head, whew... I was going to say you better head for the attic... the cellar will be taking on water real fast... lol priest pants on poles... quite stimulating imagery used here. while reading this it reminded me of when I was young, I stayed with my grandparents a lot of my childhood, and my grandmother was old school, during a lightning storm she would have us all gather in the front room and hold hands... she was very afraid of a storm... as kids, we used to laugh about it, but looking back it was a family event that I actually looked forward to... no lights on, and just us to hold onto... the things remembered... thanks for taking me back there... Dear Richard ...

LOL I am glad it was all in my head but I am beginning to think I shouldn't write weather ones ... woke up this morning and it was pouring rain and its going to storm on and off all day the weather is really bad here lol heat and humidity making for lots of spring storms ... When I was young I was the one they were always dragging inside cause I was, and still am awed by storms and the force of them ... nature at her worst can be spectacularly beautiful ... outside right now the clouds are gathering again black as pitch, and I think we maybe going to get a massive storm tonight usually get them in the afternoons here ... take care of you and your lovely write thanks so much for the comment and the read much appreciated :) love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x

Wow some Spring you are

Wow some Spring you are having... Liked this Jayne but the lines storming it rumbles to go into overdrive to go into seems long winded and awkard some how here ....suggestion might be "going into overdrive" Got a lovely laugh at the lines and the pants of priests hang off light poles You are certainly flowing at the moment...apologies for freaking you earlier time means nothing to poetry but timing is everything Hugs

I'm so glad it is all in your head, as I can remember a few storms that felt and sounded like they were about to take the roof off of the place! This is a fanciful and fun read. I loved the imagery as only you can dish it up. Thanks for the read. Love, Cat

I saw it at the cinema and now I have it on DVD. I preferred the Da Vinci Code, but A&D is still a great film. Have you read the book? I also bought Dan Brown's new book, but I haven't got around to reading it yet. I like poems un-edited, normally because it is the raw emotions and feelings and after editing, some, can lose their direction and become a little too perfect for their own good. I don't think you are crying nearly hard and loud enough yet. I would lend it to you, but I think we may be a few thousands miles apart and probably a different DVD region too. I'll tell you what happens...Mr Plum did it in the kitchen with the spanner. regards, HS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth and yet nobody sees me".

Well, with all that has been said to me today, that sounds like a complement or is it a compliment? Don't bother with the new Dan Brown book, that was Mr Green in the Dining Room with a chainsaw, two virgins and a Catholic Priest, who was looking for his underpants. LOL! Dear Barry,

In Australia we have some of the worst storms in the world sometimes ...the heat and humidity make for excellent storm weather ... and yes I have lived and road out a cyclone when I lived up north ... it was shocking and devastated everything ... and this is an awful thing to say but I am never frightened of storms doesn't matter how bad they get ... I am always the one with the mouth hanging open awed in mother at her best of her worst and the priest pants on the light pole was just showing as I said above that mother nature doesn]t discriminate lol my dad is an elder in the church and read it this morning and has plans to show our reverend lol thinks he will get a giggle out of it lol there is a little deeper meaning , will tell you next time we are talking lmao ;) long story Love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x

Oh, Seren(e), you live in such a beautiful mind. It's when the furniture gets tossed about that makes for interesting displays, electrically charged with wilding words. lol. There is that silence that precedes a storm, you can't help but feel it, and there's always an eerie light and ya know something wicked this way comes. Priestly pants on poles? Hi Spotlight queen, I am afraid I can hardly keep up with your prolific writing, yay you!... I just had to love this poem when I read the bit about the priests pants... my rediculous sense of humour rejoiced. & my pathetic sense of sensibility wanted to point out that if there was a flood it would be crazy to be in a cellar no?... but I knew even then you were just having fun, just undid the mgic for a sec & distracted me... Otherwise bravo, what fun. Cheers Anni~ "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body". ~Elizabeth Stone

Dear Anni

I actually asked people to stop nominating me for spotlight due to the backlash from certain parts of neopoet lol I have had spotlight more times than baked dinners nowdays and i am focusing on more improving my scribbles , not for any reason that I find a joy in writing and gives me something to focus on ... Glad you got a laugh out of the priests pants ... just blasphemy isn't it (my dad is an elder in the church is taking it with him on sunday lol)but nature holds no favours for anyone unfortunately lol been there done that with the cellar, though for me it was under a shed actually a hay shed lol.. it was hide under the shed or get hit by flying roofs harvesters and farm tools , we had water up to our chins ... it was hide from the chaos outside or sit in 7 inches of water ... the water was softer and I can swim ;) lol take care Jayne x x

Hope you are well, you are flourishing here, I am enjoying your

Ah Jayney girl, it is tough at the top, it's a funny thing that whole spotlight thing, I know what you mean, there was a phase I was there too often for my own comfort. I am happy quiet in the backwaters reading the lovely folk here, how I love it. This was a joy (even more that your pa takes it on Sunday, love that!), & what a story about having to hide in the hay shed, were you little? Must have been pretty nerve wracking. Hope you are well, you are flourishing here, I am enjoying your constant improvements, well done. Still can't seem to keep up with anyone, but it's ok, if they don't forgive me I guess there's nothing I can do. I do my best all round. I'll be away with my beautiful otters for the holidays, & I need that, we seem to have such a horrid time if we don't see each other for more than a week, so more than a weekend will be heaven. Hope your holidays will be lovely, if the weather sits, been pelting down here last few days (in keeping with your write), last night was a dooozy! Anni its not being at the top that bothers me at the moment lol its the petty crap that came with it , just not able to cope with it at the moment and thought if I am not there, they can't moan and piss and whinge lol and at the end of the day I started here as a hobby, that its become something else was a great surprise and no small joy losing music was a shattering thing for me, as you know being a performer demands energy and a lot of it ... I miss it but hope in time to go back ... with a renewed vigor I am bursting to bust out lol you know what I mean just sing with the universe and cleanse all the crap ... Hun we all have lives and cannot always be here and I am sure there is nothing to forgive, we give what we can when we can , its all any of us can do and weather my god I have never seen a dust storm like the one we are in the middle of at the moment I an further up the coast from sydney and its still here not quite clearing yet but see that its clearing in the city which i am happy for so many people got so sick down there today ... this summer is going to be a killer ... I am not looking forward to it at all Take care Jayne x x

Hi Jayne, a super quick dip

Hi Jayne, a super quick dip on the internet, I'm away & about to head to South Australia tomorrow (first holiday in a long time, but with kids in tow, might need a rest on return!?)... I had no idea you were copping flack, I'm sorry to hear it. I thought that was my prob. a little while back ... we probably all get a bit of flack if we get a bit more attention I suppose. I just tend to try to not be too concerned about time in the Spotlight, it is a strange mistress public attention, can be fickle & can bring out the best & worst in people. Somehow I managed to miss your circumstances, but I am sorry to hear you have been disturbed by any hassles here, it's difficult when there is trouble in paradise... I loved this place so much, but when there was difficulty it was heart breaking, I don't think I'll ever feel as at home here. I really feel for you about the losing your music, I have had a few conversations on that topic this weekend (with other muso's/performers). I have also had to minimize performances in the last 6 months & I don't think many people understand how devastating that is... & it DOES come down to energy... May we both regain our vigour & get back on the stage... sooooon!!! Think it'll be a slow recovery for me, probably for you as well. I have been finding it harder to write as well though (different challenges to you), & that is the first time in my LIFE I've been robbed of that outlet, it is awful & a part of me feels like having a tantrum & stomping & carrying on about it, but in reality I know I must deal with it in grace, knowing much worse things happen & I still have abilities, they are just more limited than they've ever been for a while. I know how lucky I am, I am fortunate to be so well loved & to have had such a full life anyway up until now. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you haven't let the Neo politics get you down, you seem more prolific than ever, don't ever forget it's all about taste & voting can be dependent on so many elements. Clearly you have become extremely popular, people who love you will continue to do so whether you are spotlit or not. I have been so impressed at the way you have worked so hard & progressed with your poetry here in such a short time really. You should be proud of yourself... I think you know it though & I am glad, as you should, you wont let it get you down. Hope the weather settles soon, it's been incredibly wet down here, tons of rain, been the wettest season for many years, good for the water circ's. Still we have warnings in my little town that there are likely to be severe bushfires again this year... poor old world. Keep that holy pants flag flying! Maybe we'll manage to clean our polutting arses up in this wicked western world! Cheers Anni Cheers Anni~ "The personal life deeply lived always expands into truths beyond itself". Anais Nin:

Dear Anni , Thanks for your message , I know what your saying I try not to let the little things get to me and always at the end of it,I wont lower myself to their level, people that play in the mud get dirty lol I am a straight shooter and I have never said I am perfect far from it lol but at the end of it you cant let it get to you because life is bigger and harsher than this place could ever be ... lol ... I miss my music so much but as always its ever present I still listen and I have my partner playing guitar and my kids nearly all of them want to play guitar so my passion is still indulged though vicariously lol ... you take care enjoy your holiday ,I am in newcastle at the hospital so I guess I cant call it a holiday but I have caught up with BossCombat and our other friend that he shares a place with kind regards Jayne :)

Can't believe I missed this one!

How on earth did I miss this wonderful write? You have such a way with describing Ma's nature. I know that you are having some trouble with the idea of spotlight and how many times you are in it, but it is popular consensus. If there are others that do not agree, maybe they should vote more often, and try to equal your writing skills. Maybe if they spent more time at working on their writes instead of griping, they would be in the spotlight. I have no problem with anyone having the spotlight when they deserve it. And you certainly do! You are right, Ma doesn't show favoritism, she gives it to us all, no matter who you are. Great stuff, and let those who don't agree, fly away with the storm! ~ Gee

A whistling storm that almost took my thoughts on a trip

You are aware, I presume, that pants, in the English I know, are underpants? We called them knickers when I was little, up to the waist and they could almost be pulled down to the knees, in bottle green school uniform thick cotton!! My mother called them kicks, or they were referred to as smalls, or scanties as the case may be! (And THOSE were the one's my little sister of 2yrs put five pairs of on one day. I never forgot how PROUD she was of having managed to wear them all together, she could hardly walk down the staircase!!) One almost makes the sheets into bed sheets following the pants, and well.......! Well the priests 'souls' were lost at the same time as his undies poor man. Apart from the humour, this was a whistling storm that almost took my thoughts on a trip, screaming round in the hurricane of your words. I hope you never have to experience your thoughts here; maybe you feel you are in some ways and that's why you wrote it, that's right drive out the daemons of negativity and establish the peace of silence in your life, wishing you good health for ever more dear Jayne, and love from Ann P.S. And all the while the sun shines outside at 21%C, in late September so beautifully hot and light and lovely. Isend it to you as a flower of a thought like a brilliant refection from the petal of a bright red poppy.

LOL opppps I didnt realise that pants over there was underpants ... woopps .... here we call them undies , bikini briefs or boxers lol ... but my great grandma who I was blessed to know, wore the old fashioned bloomers they had enough material in them to make a skirt lol or maybe a shirt, I remember thinking that she wasnt that big and why were her pants that humungous ... LOL and kicks here are shoes ... and I remember my mum calling pants knickers , she would say to go get her knickers off the airer, she was a nurse and always hurrying here and there doing something There was one piece of reality in this poem the line that says a roof was walking without any soles ? that line we had a huge storm where we are living now, we have been here nearly ten years, and the business across the road ? its roof blew off and literally walked its way down the road lol and we all saw it ... the wind is howling we had another dust storm today but the sky is clear tonight so fingers crossed we will have a nice sunny day tomorrow and the wind will go ... the days are getting warmer we have already had a 35 degree day here and its only going to get worse i think this summer is going to be a sorcher ... you take care and thanks for your wonderful message and sharing some of your life ... always a pleasure darling Ann (hug) love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x x

Jayne, I remember a movie-On

Jayne, I remember a movie-On the Beach-about the end of the world after a nuclear war. Australia is the last place on earth that can sustain life. It was/is a haunting story/movie...Now, I'm reading that Australia is the first continent suffering the ill-effects of global warming. I don't know anything for sure, all I know watching the storm of red dust is devastating for me, concerned for my extended family. Reminds me of the tons of ashes spewn when Mt. St. Helen erupted. Much love to you and yours, Jayne. Do take care. We are such a small world. ~A

We are seeing the effects of climate change already in our country we are going through one of the longest droughts that even the aborigines cannot remember that says something they have been here for thousands of years ... our country has gotten hotter and hotter every year , maybe I am getting old but I can see the water shortages in queensland they are talking about recycled water and you know what that means its getting desperate ... somethings gotta be done or we are all fucked lol simple as ... the rivers are drying up we are seeing more and more accounts of algae that pollute our rivers the river mouths are being clogged with crap .. I could go on for hours , but I have brought my kids up like I was, farm girl respect the land take care of it , its all I can do ... but here in australia they are raising awareness in schools already about climate change both my kids have done assignments on climate change this year ... we are ok I am not looking forward to summer at the moment its swinging between a hot summer and then at night its the middle of winter again ... the weather is mad lol love and higgest bugs Jayne x x

35%C is getting too hot for me.

Yes I nearly added Bloomers but then I thought they were those knee length lace edged white knickerbockers, things that they wore in the 19thC, which they are but we still used bloomers sometimes in the 40's. We had a group that met in my house in Flatdal, we created our own philosophy and part of it, to make the story short!!!! Was the fact that we had a pair of underpants that would have fitted the largest person you have ever seen, with these, we had enormous fun, one time auctioning them off to each other. There were, of course many other items, some hand-knitted socks that also would have fit size 80 or huge, much to big for human feet, knitted by an old lady to sell at a parish Christmas sale, and as E's feet are large I thought oh super and bought them, I tried to find out what size they were but nobody knew - well nobody can were them, perhaps in bed when they wish to visit the trolls in their dreams, so we had a great laugh about them too. One of the other items was one that I made to illustrate the shape and size of a Dr. Seifart, who had a 'fuglebryst',( he was a therapist who has a whole story for himself so funny too) a chest the shape of a birds, this was put on rather like a brassier which was very effective!! More laughter. There were a number of posthumous members including Kong Olav, for his 'fistelstemme', high pitched voice! I staggered home by air with two huge seaweed shapes that still hang on my wall in Flatdal, strange baggage, but then one time we came home with so many stones from Spain and one year from Corsica with the suitcases full of wallnuts!!!! I had to send my clothes home by post to make room for them!!!! The group's founder member was the now posthumous Dodo! He was so kind of nature, let us capture him and eat him up, unable to fly as his wings were so tiny either side of his cumbersome body, and we ate and we ate until there were no more of them. We felt him worthy of 'gjenreisning' ascension as you might say, and therefore chose him, as did the authorities when they needed an animal to represent all extinct animals." Dead as a dodo." But in our hands with speeches, discussions, plays, museums etc. we dressed up in the evenings and with a glass of wine and a good meal, after having walked up 3000 ft. during the day, we set to with our wonderfully absurd dissertations and chat. That was great, now we are only three of the group left, and it has cooled off to whimper, ach wheel such is life, or death. But wow we were all good comedians and painted, read, wrote, sculpted, all sorts and that made for a beautifully absurd group to make fun with. Now we can laugh at your underpants instead! Love Ann

Dearest Ann My great

Dearest Ann My great greadmama was a very old fashioned woman a mother of 18 children,She had two children by her first husband (who died in world war 2) and then her second husband was the father of the other 16 ... lol she wore bloomers right through the 70's and I mean those big old fashioned ones with the lace on the bottom of them lol I am not joking ... and wore them till the day she died ... I still remember those bloomers they were massive ... I got such a laugh out of your group I was once in a choir for years and in the end of every night it was high jinxs and laughter, always, it was good fun I miss my music and singing but eventually when I am well enough will get back to it ... When I was with my ex husband I used to make ceramics, still can, but it takes steady hands and at the moment I am about as steady as a sinking ship so another thing that will wait till I improve , though poetry has become such a huge love , and some of my poems I have turned into music with boredom setting in lol ... thanks for sharing I got such a thrill out of your story ... you know you remind me of my dad hes in a walking group and they go out twice a week , fitness and friendship they call their walks ... its very cold here again today the wind is howling but ? no dust as yet with any luck we can get a dust free day and get some washing dry .... we have had trouble getting clothes dry, hang them out and twenty minutes later whatever colour they are is covered by red dust lol Love and higgest bugs Jayne x x x
