Magician of Misdirection

To know what direction I'm going
and still be loss
is like watching a magician
in a life that I have chosen,

Everyday when I awaken
and plot my days direction
by its end
I've lost my navigation,

Willingly I submit
to the course and new direction
understanding that this was not
my true and hearts destination,

I realize that I am lost
because without direction
I know not where to turn
and life becomes an abbreviation,

No matter how big my dreams
their all inside a vault
looking for the key
has put my life on halt,

I've taken to surrender
living life deferred
wondering where its gone
the life that i transfered,

Searching through my rooms
that are filled with misdirection's
Am I a magician?
of my own calculations

Happiness comes to me
not with smoke and mirrors
but in the outcome that was generated
in all my expectation

So I danced like an idiot
looking for my place
and just like a magician
it had never left its space.

This is a solid piece,

This is a solid piece, reminds me of Langston Hughes' poem, 'Dreams Deferred'.

An understandedly ironic piece....

...and it flows well, too. I'm impressed with this attempt, Eddie. My latest poem, "Pencil Me in for Thursday"...is, ironically....a poem of the same nature. Really Ed...I truly enjoyed this peek inside your brain. Well done ! "Write On"! Sincerely, #{:>{)}8==== docmaverick.

I can really relate to this piece, as I've been lost a few times, myself. I really like these lines: I realize that I am lost because without direction I know not where to turn and life becomes an abbreviation, A truly excellent poem! Always, Cat

Cat,

Thank you so much! I believe that at some level we all have experienced this stage of being lost. "I can't wait to read your dark poetry" Eddie
