TREE OF LIFE

                             Evolution from ape
                             as the fossils dictate
                             from latitude through
                               longitude walking
                             with the multitude the
                              human being rules
                              supreme on this rock
                                of blue and green ,

                               natural selection
                               eventual change
We  are but a leaf on
                             the evolutionary tree.

                                 time demands this
                                 rate of change fall
                               asunder  rearrange
                              Everything in constant
                               motion moon earth
                                       and ocean .
                             .

evolution

hi sorry about delay in returning your reply about explaining this poem , evolution the first line deals with how it is widely excepted that we evolved from primates and there is some fossils to show this. the rest of that verse deals with how mankind is everywhere on our earth and highly evolved which is plain to be seen . the rest of the poem is a kind of warning for our future , the earth will go on with or with out us . thanks for reading and commenting on my poem , i wrote this about six years ago , chat soon , ENDA , PATRICK COLLINS

"intelligent design" is the term used to teach creationism

instead of real science in American schools. Like Americans need to be more stupid than they already are? I do apologise for suspecting your poem of lowering itslf to that level. kind regards, Jean, meow, yip, purr, yowl and perfect body language expreses all

This is a great piece.

This is a great piece. Brief, but packs a philosophical punch. My take is that perhaps human beings look upon themselves as the end all be all (ethereal realms excluded, if you believed in those sort of things), and that we're just merely a part of a pattern of change (evolution) as it relates to a collective existence...

hello Edd

I believe in evolution, too. For being the most intelligent mammal (that is under debate as to the dolphin's intelligence) on Earth, we sure are pretty stupid in the fact that we pollute and many of us have no respect for our only home. Many don't believe in evolution, which is one of my pet peeves. I agree with Kenneth's comments. I also think that this is a brave piece for you to have written and I thank you for posting it. Always, Cat

enda, patrick collins. many thanks cat ,i know you agree but this poem is not about what is the most intelligent animal / mammal but whether any one belives in evolution makes no difference to the scientific fact which is there to be seen and i have a brother who is a doctor of geneticists in london who could explain this far better than i could and i cant see this as been brave topic to write on when the truth is there to be seen and read its only a few clicks away when on line . i have changed the title and added a few lines to explain all of this a little better !

Yes… I see. just a leaf on

Yes... I see. just a leaf on the tree. Always, Cat p.s. I still say it is a brave write, because many Christians, don't believe in evolution, no matter how many scientific facts you present to them.

Dear Ziggy:

Yes, I believe in the evolution not only of the bodies we inhabit as eternal intelligences, but also of the spirit, who motions it all toward completeness. Your poem has a lot of depth, and very disconcerting at times, for you don't allow gray areas. For me everything is colorful, not just black and white, yes or no, true or false. You're writing is excellent and it has many a quality of great poetry. Thank you, I enjoyed this write! Sincerely, Hugo
