Uneven
The world has taught itself to value wholeness
Like houses in a row and all alike
But never with concern about its dullness
This notion it impressed with mother’s milk
But unlike all the smooth that makes a globe
Topography is rangy and uneven
And so it’s not the hemispheric lobe
That sometimes makes me feel as if I’m broken
I am not like the myths of perfect men
My soul is bruised from all the years that birthed me
So far am I from farther times of when
The wells of water flowed like satin silk
The earth has taught itself to value wholeness
Like smiles so alike and so unmeaning
But I am just like it is, so uneven
The earth, my heart we all are cracked and broken.
