WHY KILL THE CHILDREN

WHY KILL THE CHILDREN

Seems in any war the children are targeted first.
Why kill the children larking about in the streets.
Innocents marked out to be shot.
Sweep the child into your arms say I love you.
Protect the weak against the bullets of hate.

In the maelstrom of war, children warm our hearts.
Without their love we cannot ever be strong.
Future times need the children to grow in love.
Listen to the laughter of the children.
Laugher is the sound of love. A bullet only tears your heart apart.
The part we play in the child’s heart decides their future.
It’s wrong to hurt the children; they’re our hope for tomorrow.

Why kill the children.

Love the children, there is nothing in the world that’s
better than love. It’s everything we need.
Mankind loves to kill, misuse of life’s skills.
The child grows crying, carrying on the wars
all they know is hatred. If we do not love the children,
then all we be as ever was, war and hate.
love the children, in them, we can find our humanity.

There is so much here to work with, it has the makings of a good poem. I see you are still working on this, so i'll return later. Just wanted to say a heartfelt welcome to Neopoet, and i look forward to your work.

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

this poem needs more prosodic values, otherwise it is just something we would all like to say, and frankly many could say it better.

I don't want to come across patronising but the Workshops on this site could really help you. Not just the currently running workshops, check out the Workshop archives,

Your depth of emotion carries, but poetry is so much more than that.

cheers,
Jess
