IDEAS' DEARTH
Sitting here with pen in hand
with hopes of writing something grand
that future readers might remember
in a future's drab December
I search for a substantial topic
universal, not myopic
something not already written
that might leave just one person smitten
Maybe I could write a poem that's funny
to turn a disposition sunny
but ideas for writing humor
seem to be just distant rumor
A poem about past chances lost ?
well, how could I compare to Frost
the deeper words that might just last
have all been written in the past
So lay aside tablet and pen
defeated 'fore I can begin
deciding I won't with words quibble
and make do with this little scribble
Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?

I've yet to try a limerick
Writing one would be a trick
But I might try some distant day
( got no idea what I'd say )
I'd probably trip on my own d!ck............................scribbler

I enjoyed the tongue in cheek style you use here to describe a hopefully temporary condition.
I have wrestled with this beast for a while now myself.
Something about your choice of words "...pen in hand" reminded me of a line from a song I wrote myself, while begining my Writer's Block. Here's a link to the song and the lyric...

hello Cyrus
The bane of writers is finding a subject that hasn't been covered before. I was unaware you are a singer and enjoyed your song. I have said many times some of the best poetry of the last 50 years has been in the form of song. Thanks for the visit........scribbler

Welcome to my page. I am always pleased to have a new reader. I've read a good bit of your writing but have yet to comment on it( I think lol )as time permits only a few comments per day. Guess I need to leave Something just to let you know I was there . I appreciate your taking the time to read and hope you can become a " regular ".................scribbler
