Modern Man, Classic Thoughts
does the grass
wax poetic
like Whitman?
the mountains feel
their own majesty?
the birds have a song
but without words
about the GNP
or the First World War
vows upon
a July wedding day
or a December
newspaper obituary
was memory made
for man
above all?
to sing the triumphs
and defeats
the lies and truths
and lessons learned
even in the Underworld
Valhalla
or somewhere
beyond the stars?
a flower lasts a season
the years pass by
we are transient beings
that is for sure
and yet somehow
eternity lives in our souls
peppers our songs
and intentions
with hope for recollection
and reunion
time for our planet
may be running out
but will the Great Spirit
find some other way
to propagate?
birth something
wonderful and new
as well as
bring back from the dead?

2nd stanza are you making a
2nd stanza are you making a statement or asking a question if it is a question I would suggest the word do
words of a song are lyrics are they not lol although I would imagine words can be used
I have only read two of your works but am liking your style of writing clear yet poetic
