Speaking the unspeakable

Hidden behind his veil
a predator laid in wait,
walking without cares
every step a statement

His gentle ways
Belied an animal,
intent on feeding
his ego's hunger

It began with hearts
entwined in love,
ending with tears
and cries from a child

In between horrors
a scarred pyche,
unfamiliar of love
and all its many ways

Slowly underwent change
a happy bubbly girl,
transformed into a
rugged husk of what was

All her dreams were lost
drowned in her own blood,
all her faith in mankind
died a thousand little deaths

All she wanted was love
and to give love,
all she needed
was kind words of prayer

The creak of a bed
libel to give palpations,
a forgotten chore
able to bring anxiety

It was the raising of his hand
and the sudden loss of love,
that preceded the kidnapping
of a whole human beings mind

Demeaning her every action
encouragement a foreign concept,
she lost her will to be alive
proceedings to end it followed

Even in the attempts to leave
she failed time and again,
taunted and jeered and spat on
"You cant even kill yourself ?" Hilarious.

He laughed as every tear fell
and scoffed when courage rebirt-ed,
a table followed a girl child, solidly,
painfully, through giprock, still

A lioness awoke in a crushed mind
standing before the monster,
horrific anger scored her eyes
she couldn't fight for herself

But she'd fight him forever
for her children, everyday of her life,
so, this is how I got out and lived
tragically millions upon millions,

Perish at the hand of a husband,
boyfriends even girlfriends, kill,
they will stay silent for themselves
not caring in the end of their fate

But the pride must rise up
stand shoulder to shoulder,
Ignite the fire of courage
that's died in all their eyes

Hold out your hand to innocence,
give the gift of a life with true love,
there is no greater salvation
than of abused bodies minds and souls

Find the courage to say no more
just walk up, and open that door !!

Last few words:
Most of you don't know I was in an abusive relationship with my husband for many years, it wasn't until he turned his hand to our children that I found the courage to leave, I've written about it before in a round about way this is my first attempt of describing what it was like in hopes that it helps someone else find courage to save themselves so many women and men ! die at the hands of someone that's meant to love them ...

You have painted a picture of many abusive relationships. Yes, it is shocking how many of them are endured until the abuse is laid upon the children. But when it is, most mothers decide that that is the last straw! I have no constructive criticism to leave, only the prayer that your poem will encourage another to leave such a terrible waste of love. Many thanks for this, ~ Gee

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

If only it could be made easier for those tormented spirits to be released from those day to day torments.
I have met quite a few mistreated wives and husbands, but can't go there in my words as it brings close people bad memories.
Your write is excellent and those that do these things are one of the few that will make me very angry.
It is a feeling of not being able to solve the problems for all those spirits that are treated so.
I just ramble and don't really know what to say, just try to teach others that there is another life just a door away, and as to yourself make better memories, My thoughts and love goes out to all those in like places that they can walk through that door.
