I Love the Broken Pieces of You

I love the broken pieces of you,
the pieces I studied from one year
to the very next year,
on those days
you pushed me as far from you
as you dared to push me.

I remember how you told me
that you were so very adept
at forgetting people;
and I wondered if you realized
the damage you'd do
would be to yourself.

I've been told and called all kinds of things
these past few months
about how I'm codependent,
as if it's now a disorder
to have human emotions.

Someday you will thank me
for not rescuing you,
for saying "grow, don't rely on me
or any man."
Someday, you'll know that Poetry
and flowers don't pay the bills.

And some days I think you'll call any minute,
and some days I think I'll never hear from you at all.

But then I look around this room,
at the pieces I still have.
And I think
"we still have so much work left to do."

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

of all my trail times...walks with my women
and there were quite a few
I only do not talk with two
those two whined a lot
and got a lot
they can move on
Im happy..
of the rest
they were givers and workers
and drivers
meaning mature
the dance if one can do it..
many want relationships
and it never ever gonna happen
for them...Lonely Forever Meme
I had too learn to be flexible
I took on the best
and I demaned simple things
A...pretty
B...intelligent and beyond
C...had to corner.handle intel
D...knowledge of cooking and banking
a must
E...the tenderloin moments..romance

funny someone like me that would
be important..But cards...flowers...
footrubs..I put in great effort for!
laundry dishes...easy peasy

getting along...well..still a work
in progress...

I like how the narrative poet
examines..the what if's
and sees the relationship
as saving someone
I think a lot of doomed
relationships have this
for a sand footing
at low tide
knowing the waters gonna
rise with that moon!

luckily many know how
to swim

even though like the narrator
I too Enjoyed the Broken Pieces
..
its a ruin...
not a functioning structure
ie...character of life etc..

still..I dove in headfirst
run the gauntlet
and come out the other
side...Hey wheres my
wallet.....wheres my
kid.....credit...reputation
ah well...

the experience was way
worth it...that edge given
from all that friction
got me sharp from
the dull shaded existance
I had...
damned right its better
to have loved and lost...

fall down...oh boo hoo
get back up again
fugget about it..
too many
mambies about these
days...

no a great poem about
wading in
lifegaurd duty
or Bar Bouncer
Love Bouncer
there we are
..
sometimes U fall
in love with them!
yes...it happens!

excellent poem
as always
of your work
