On The Golf Course
The forecast threatened rain,
yet, there they were,
a brave foursome
armed with irons, and drivers,
wedges, and putters
paying homage to the green,
praying to the benevolent
Deity of the Hole-In-One.
They had mastered par,
battled with a birdie,
and clashed courageously
against provoking divots
throughout the hostile downpour.
But it was the bolt of lightening
that sent them scrambling to the 19th Hole,
fully aware that a golf cart
can only fly
so fast.

Evocative!
'[The forecast threatened rain,'] That's a very powerful figurative language that heightened the effect of this poem. I glued my eye and read it twice to assimilate the usage of this strong personanification.
A raindrop impacts a bare soil surface something like a metal ball striking the surface. The energy of the raindrop impact is transferred to the soil particles directly under the drop.
Nicely weaved !

Hello, Jackweb,
I do not golf, but have observed from a distance. Sometimes it looks pretty fierce. Yes, those raindrops must hurt! I appreciate your reading and commenting!
Thank you!
