Forever And A Day

what if
every morning
we watched the beaches
fill up again
with sand
the way snow
fills the fields?

the hills
blew up like lungs
the valleys
depressed like lungs

what if the trees
sang like birds
not just with the wind
but with the sun
the starlight,
in the cold
and in the storm?

the world is alive
but it is alive
also for the patient

who measure time
not just in seconds
but in years
and in millions of years

the fresh snow falls
the ancient sands shine
the flitting birds sing
the old mountains impart
we speak

a poem of now
and forever
and a day

I'm so totally a nature lover, and this is beautiful reminder that Earth is ever changing....as are our lives and impacts here!!

Your title is what sucked me in and made me read this. It made me wonder what this was going to be about, only for me to be even more surprised. Only to find great imagery patiently waiting to be discovered!!

Pacing and theme is spot on! My only suggestion is to move the "we speak" line, possibly down to the last stanza.... other then that, all is well with this poem!

Congrats on such beautifully written words here!!

Write for fun, or for the love of writing!
But just write for you!
