Cupid on the Garden Bench

When the thrush sings in the grove,
when the moon is on the rise and distant
stars reflect in your fair hair, then
of citrus blossoms you weave a wreath
to wear, and romance is in the air.

But you are a tease and pretend
you hear me not, delighting in my
sighs that would touch the marble
heart of the small armless Venus
de Milo in our curio cabinet—

Oh, you listen to my persuasive words,
And I think I sense consent and promise—
and I think--soon, I’ll join the blessed
spirits in their roundelay—well, not all at once,
but perhaps—sometime after I walk our dogs?
Or maybe right after I fasten the knob
on a kitchen cabinet . . . Maybe . . .Maybe..

maybe if you finish up your to-do list, she will favor you with a kiss! I know it always makes my missus a bit more amiable when I get something done around the house. Another little trick, is to put it off for a little bit, [not too long!] and then get it done, so that she is even more appreciative. [If she mentions it more than twice, it is too long.] LoL

then you know all about the tricks those wily wives will pull on their husbands to distract them. Perhaps I had more than a kiss on my mind; namely, a dish of ice cream on a hot summer eve. Thanks for reading, Sir.

Hi, Jerry,
I sense a poem in here about the rewards of walking the dogs. Fun, romantic poem.
Thanks, Jerry!

well, yeah, my wife thinks of me as the last funny romantic; in a category all of itself. I'd walk a mile to earn her favors--no, for a Camel cigarette, that is. Whatever happened to that commercial . . . . Thank you, dear Lavender. Jerry/van

that's fine by me; I don't watch advertisements on T.V. at all, but that commercial sounded so enticing, I didn't mind investing in a pair of walking shoes.just to walk that extra mile for a Camel cigarette. Thanks, Geez. Jerry
