Cat People

I’m an introvert
I love my bedroom
Like a cat
Loves that certain
Patch of light
In the bay window

But I find myself returning
To society, like
A cat to its vomit
Hoping to find
Some meal I’ve enjoyed
Satisfy me again

It almost never does
And I’ve decided it’s safer
To keep my distance
Throw a cold shoulder
Be my own queen or king
In a world of sporadic light

Relish my solitude
And the occasional
Cat person, who knows
When to stop
Stroking my chin

What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Last few words:
This isn't really me. I'm more like a dog: love being around people. Just looking into different personality types. But I think everyone can relate a little bit. It's fun getting in someone else's shoes.

a damn fine job of getting into another's shoes, or spot of light. I like your title, the language is good and the theme flows well from beginning to end. Nice job all around. You must have had a few cats; your description of an encounter with one is spot on! ~ Geezer.

thanks, Katie. this is inspired particularly by my lovely ex wife, who loved cats and didn't always love people. well, people can suck, for sure. I'm glad it was relatable to you. I'm more of an introvert these days than I used to be. check out my poem, "the dog and the butterfly" for a picture more of me. thanks for your comments.
