All hallows Eve

All Hallows Eve

Waxing Gibbous moon is bright
on this cool October night
making shadows in the trees
with the help of autumn’s breeze

strolling down a country lane
passing harvests on the wane
pumpkins huddled in a field
wait their turn to be revealed

as some jack-O-lantern’s face
leering from it’s front porch space
beckoning the trick or treats
to come and get their yearly sweets

down the road a graveyard lies
resting ‘neath October skies
daring those who wander round
to walk its stone-embellished ground

perhaps to hear a whispered word
from some spirit there interred
or maybe just to feel the fear
of being there this time of year

witches may be flying low
spreading spells and causing woe
no one gets to see dawn’s light
without a shiver in the night

but rest assured, its all in fun
an Autumn treat for everyone
unless you anger vengeful dead
and make them seek your silly head

a little trite, but apt. Your rhyme was excellent and the theme is one I love! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I could see this poem being used as the intro for an article in the local-paper on Halloween. It was smooth the whole way through! Nice job! ~ Gee

Its getting bigger and bigger here every year in Australia but its always held a special place in my heart as it is my fathers birthday.

As always rhythm and rhyme divine and its such a pleasure to read my favourites again ... I cant always comment but I am around every few days for hours or minutes however it can be draining

I've been in hospital and I have dialysis and hopefully I can get well enough for a transplant but atm I'm not well enough even if a kidney.or two became available

So sorry I have been quiet on FB but I simply don't have the energy to keep up a conversation for very long I tried to keep up once and that had to be it I will return if and when things improve but right now I'm concentrating on getting as well as I can.

I miss you all quite much but I sleep lots and lots and that for me is a different experience after a lifetime of insomnia

Much love to you both Jayne xox <3

I just got great praise of your work from weirdelf, and came here to read one of your poems, and I was not disappointed! He said we had similar style and I clearly see that here. Thanks for sharing!

Best always,
Laura

Lonnie is one of those I admire here on Neopoet for the honesty with which he writes and the crispness of his verses. It's good Laura that you two have got connected here as fellow poets.
