It felt as if 9.10
never was,

and 9.12
would never be.

That night
we huddled closely
with those we loved,
watched each memory
of the familiar life we knew
helplessly slip through our fingertips -
gone, forever,
as we searched for
in that vacant, darkened sky.

I remember the day so well, I was at work and I watched it all on the news channel, I remember when I eventually left there was a chill of great sadness outside. One I'd never felt before. I remember everyone crying including myself. Was one of the saddest days of my life. Your first two lines set the scene very well. Take care.

Thank you...Teddy

A major life changing event for the world, and even though the years go by, it still feels the same.
Thanks so much for reading!

the events of 9-11 remind me of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, except that this war of retaliation against the culprits seems to be endless. Damn all those warmongers on all sides. I have searched for answers but there are none. Good write. Nice to see you, Jerry

I suppose there will never be answers for such actions.

remember the horror of the "Breaking News" seeing the tower smoking and spitting life. Then while I was held in absolute numbness, the second plane, on "Live TV" smashing into the other tower. Incredulous, I wondered what madness had struck the world. Though I know the motivation; I cannot fathom the peversity of the minds of men who are so willing to sacrifice the lives of innocents and I claim no relationship to the slime that would perpetrate such a cruel deal with the Devil himself. Just as I can not understand the savagery that let the bombing of Hiroshima or Nagasaki happen. Maybe now, that we have in fact suffered such a catastrophic event ourselves, we should teach our children what we have also done and we will not have another such thing happen. Maybe? Good write and made me think. ~ Geez.

Hard to understand such unfathomable actions on this precious blue planet. Like you, I hope generations to come are able to prevent such horrors.
Thank you for reading - take good care!
