Silence falls upon a community
two officers gunned down
Senseless killings, a traffic stop
families, comrades, protectors
Children whose daddy
will not be coming home today
The baby that will never get to see
a fathers face, feel a fathers love

The criminal on the loose again
too many guns in the wrong hands
Why kill a cop, whose protection is yours
your family, your community
How callous, how cowardly
you can't live life without your gun
Your low life morals, stuck in your head
why did you go kill the cops instead

Alleged killer on the run
you can run, but you can not hide
They will find you all in good time
When will it end, will it ever
two fathers on their duty honorably
One awaiting the birth of his child
His wife thrown into labor, mourns
Another father of four to never
see the light of day, to hug his children

Why and for what, a traffic stop,
another man, another gun, just what were
you hiding from, not to worry
you will be found, brought to justice
you can run but you can't hide
They will find you all in good time
As you made a foul choice, so wrong it was
leaving a community grief stricken

Two families saddened, a city mourns
For two loving fathers who went out to work
To keep peace and enforce the law
To protect and serve, like the angels above
May they now rest in God's eternal love
