Trust the Sky

What flower is there guilty of the rain?
Who blames the gem for the jewelers cut?
Do you chastise the child for not choosing her name,

Then pour salt in the wounds that name has wrought?

Your morning is dark, your hillside steep.
With the wind at your back, the race would be grim.

But you shoulder a burden that underwrites defeat,
Then you tear at the prize you've suffered to win.

Too cruel the verdict, the penalty too high.

Your debt's not as dear as you think.

How brilliant is gold expected to shine?
How perfect a song must you sing?

I wish you would look into the mirror of my eyes,
I wish you could fathom your worth.
Why do you grant me title to the skies,

As you fall to your knees on the earth?
Don't you know your angels are preparing your way?

I can see them in the moments when you smile.

They will teach you to soar above the minefields you've laid,

If you'll just unfold your wings and trust the sky.

Poetic questions

You begin this poem with a verse of very quotable questions and continue with words of encouragement. Amazing images throughout this fine work. I look forward to reading more. Gerry Beyond agree and disagree there is a field. I will meet you there. Rumi
