Just like lovers
Could we walk together just like lovers
Our hands entwined, or holding each other
Would you ask me to keep you safe
From the evil that surrounds this place
Will you ask me to write you a song
I wish you would, been wishing that so long
Could I keep you protected from the rain
You can ask me, I will again and again
Would you ever think of me at night
When you're alone and i'm out of sight
Would you ever respond to my letter
Could you save the tear making my cheek wetter
Would you miss me if I wasn't here
I doubt you even remember me, my dear
I wish you'd take the time to read these words
Somehow I suspect my wish will go unheard
So for the last time, could we walk just like lovers
Or is this a wasted effort, like all the others
