all the underwear

somehow i knew:

the one i snuggled with
above the fray was not
the one i had come with
the one i had come with
was somewhere else
and when the fray was done
the one i'd snuggled with
wandered off alone
and i wondered if
the one i had come with
had seen me snuggle with
the one who'd wandered off
and wandered off as well

and yet somehow it seemed
what mattered most was this:
all the underwear were shades of purple
all the underwear
were shades of purple

Rob

Now this is quite interesting and provokes images and thoughts. I'm not sure that you meant to make it light and amusing but that is how I read it. Hope I did not offend Chrys

Delighted

Delighted to hear you found it amusing! I hoped the wording of the first part, and the outrageous disconnect with the second part, would make for a strange and funny poem. A reader elsewere suggested I avoid laundering my underthings with a new purple sweatshirt... :-,?
