Holiday Reflections (3 Haikus & 1 acrostic)

Brushing my Teeth

Looked in the mirror
accepting for the first time
I am beautiful

Stretching in the Garden

Annointed by sun
occasional passing car
Yoga in garden

Creation of Birds

Violent flapping
followed by a deep cooing
two pigeons create

Peace

Pretense aside
Embracing
Accepting
Comfortable
Eye to eye with one's true self

Beki!

You're back! Love your "holiday reflections", especially the haikus, and, most of all, the first one. Yours, ~Nina

Thanks Nina, the first one

Thanks Nina, the first one is my favourite too, kind of wishing now I hadn't got carried away and posted them all at once, I feel it may have weakened the impact of that one especially. Always happy if you like my haikus hon :) much love b xx

Kelsey, wonderful to see you

Kelsey, wonderful to see you here, I agree with Nina too and now wish I'd posted that first one seperately, so as not to have weakened it's impact perhaps. Thank you so much for throwing your considered critique out there Kelsey, i do see what you mean about the change of tone in the middle line of Stretching in the Garden, but it was actually intentional, I wanted to balance the yoga-ish feeling with the reality of the moment, I have just returned from a two week break by the seaside, a fab holiday (although get what you mean about Summer, it is a holiday in a way, more so I think if you're in education and get the time off from school and study) the cottage where we stayed was on the corner of a road junction (albeit a small one) to the beach, it was focusing through the occasional traffic noise that seemed to help me get to a deeper place in my yoga practice, it some how added to the 'annointing' so it seemed important to include it. Thanks again for stopping here, I'm always thrilled to see you :) much love b xx

i am not one to follow any

i am not one to follow any form or technique while writing, i feel it is like putting the ocean behind a dam, at least for myself, these make me want to use some form tho! thankyou for sharing! -with what love could be- WT

WT, thank you so much for

WT, thank you so much for stopping here, I totally get what you mean about damming up the ocean, I write a lot of free flowing thought stream poetry too, but I do love the challenges of form and structure, and I particularly love the Haiku, for me it is an attempt to potray a moment, or feeling, to pin one single drop of an immense ocean, and I enjoy the fact they encourage me to try and simplify or distill things. It's always my utmost pleasure to share, so happy you found something here, much love b x

I Said Wow!

Hi Beki, how is everything going? I liked these beautiful little poems, specially the first one, and the third Haiku, "Wow" for it.. Liked the others too. I love Haiku, and this makes me think of posting one of my own too. Sincerely, Wafi "Culture, location and beliefs; All vanish with love!" ~Afzal Shauq~

Yeah post one of your haikus

Yeah post one of your haikus Wafi, you're ever so good at them if I remember rightly :) So happy you liked mine, I do love writing them, they help me appreciate the little things and look at the bigger picture all at the same time, as Kelsey said 'that's haikus I suppose' lol :) In answer to your question I'm a bit low today (post holiday blues perhaps lol)but your comment has cheered me right up, so thank you. Hope you're ok? Will go see if you've posted, much love b x
