What does it mean?

The future is finally here,
the words my mother always
said have come to pass,
"My son in America if you work
hard you can become President,"

So we've voted into office a man
who is black, but isn't he still just
a man like all the rest,

What does it mean?

Do you believe he will be the one
to make the changes that we need?

Isn't it a monumental task that lies
before this President.,

is he up to it, are we ready for the
changes he must make?

He was was very clear in his speech:
-you elected me, but without your help
this would have never occurred-

We've taken the first step, but are we
ready for the consequence,

it's not he, but us that must make the
change,

He will need two terms to make the
changes, are you ready to commit,

When will we see the changes take
affect? Surely not in four or even in
eight, more then likely it will be in ten,

and who will get the pat on the back:
A JOB WILL DONE!
Mr. Obama or another President?

We Americas must stop pampering
ourselves or think we deserve the
world,

we must learn to bite the bullet and
pitch in, so we can truly accept change,
we are part of the process, but it doesn't
end there,

Only then will we again become the
leaders of this vast ever changing
world.

zarul,

I wrote this for ever one, your opinion as a non American is important, because we then can see how the outside world perceive us. Please never stop from giving your opinion on any of my work. that's what I enjoy about this site. "Neopoet home of the freed poets" as always zarul thanks for stopping by I do appreciate!
