Yes we can!!

                              Yes we can,

                               The People have spoken,
                        And Barack is smokin'.

Do you feel the change in the wind,
can you feel the hope coming from with-in.

Are you more excited than ever before.
It finally feels like we have opened a door.

And we are the one's who made it real.
With the promise of hope and a better Ideal.

It's a historic event to say the least.
Definitely worthy of a giant feast.

Don't get me wrong it's all just begun.
There's a lot of work , with little fun.

Unity and hope is our theme,
As we all dared to reach for this dream.

Our future is brighter and sweeter than before.
I can't wait for the chance to learn so much more.

Don't let anyone tell us that we can't achieve our dreams.
If they don't understand, then they can't know what it means.

Don't forget the lesson's this campaign has taught.
So all of our efforts count, and won't be forgot.

Respect, fairness, and dedication are what we have been shown.
And that there's a chance to have the American dream as our own.

The Audacity of hope was once just a book
But now we all can see what vision it took.

As we raise our hands in celebration of the Promise.
A new era has dawned, the whole future is upon us.

Can we make the change? I say YES  WE CAN!
Because finally we have found just the right man!

So let us all celebrate now and rejoice in the news.
What brought us all together and secured our right to choose

Come January 20 th  history will be made.
And this feeling of hope I would never trade.

Thank you Obama for showing us how,
The future is upon us, the future is now!

Well written

Good rhyme and flow. Don't much care for centered poems here as they never turn out right and are difficult to read. Congratulations on your optimism. It comes through well. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008

A very good piece!

Nicely written, well thought out, and decidedly optimistic! I sincerely hope you are correct, my friend!

Hey tripper

You really trip out when you write LOL I like your enthusiasm here give ya some stars for that ok. I disagree with you on the hope lines although on license I think I know what you mean. Hope has never left and never will it just exists for choice and creativity :) It is really not a good idea to try and center long poems, short ones with short lines usually work out good :~) Man thinks this.

I’m sorry… and I don’t

I'm sorry... and I don't mean this in any derogatory sense to your writing.... the poem itself is written beautifully well... but "Hope".... isn't "hope" something the most powerful and influential continent on this plant should be handing out to the rest of the world and not "hoping" for itself.... ? there is something not quite right here. After all America must take responsibility for Voting Bush into presidency... and yes I agree and understand that not every American voted for Bush, but it does seem odd that a new sense of hope should flourish suddenly when he is replaced. It seems to me that Americans would either get their first female president or their first black president... and those facts alone would be a great way to "inject" "hope" into a disillusioned populace... but we will see.... please forgive me I am a cynic by nature.....

hmm not sure hope can be "injected"

I believe it comes forward when needed. It has been needed. Honestly, colin, right now I think of Obama more akin to JFK. Althogh I am sure the Afro Americans, African Black folks and many more see him first as Afro American. Wanna get cynical lol Man I can be speed racer and I bet you can too :) Man thinks this.
