One Nation Under God ~ an acrostic

Oftentimes hated
Nevertheless created
Even though some prefer obliterated

No one is better than another
Although many think they are
Toils and turmoils
Indeed we've seen by far
Opened up for business 'bout 11 score and 3.
Never looking back at that Parliamentary

United states of America. is what we became
Nurturers of prosperity over time became our game
Degraded we've become
Enchanted among the rest
Remarkably, some even still call us the best

Great bald eagle still flies proudly
Once again, I have to say
Disgruntled as I may be, God bless the USA!

Jess,

this is such a perfect responds to all the malarkey that been being spoken of our great nation I can't wait to hear what is said when we start taking names again. As an Ex USA service man I am extremely proud of what you wrote here. your a bomb shell of a secret weapon. Kudos to you!!! Eddie PS. Hey Congrads on the Spotlight!!! Thank you! I'd salute you, but since I'm not former military, that's considered disrespectful (or at least that's what I've been told) Thanks for the kind comments. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"So you stand on the corner in your new English clothes, and you look so polished from your hair down to your toes. I think the bald eagle has been removed from the endangered species list. We have one here in Virginia at a wildlife sanctuary - beautiful creature. Damn it, Elf....

There are other countries around the world who wage war against others. North and south Korea sound familiar? Struggles over the Gaza Strip sound familiar? Somolia sound familiar? Why is it whenever the slightest problem arises, everyone always looks to us for help? Even when we try to mind our own business, we hear "where was the United States?" As for the "our God is evil" that's just a point blank ignorant and stupid comment. We're primarily a Christian nation, though we incorporate all faiths (or no faiths!) fairly. You worship Satan. Satan is indeed quite evil. Our Gods, be it Yahweh, or Allah, or Buddha, or the Christian God, whoever, USUALLY helps bring out the good in other people. It gives us something to believe in, and our gods USUALLY stand for something good. Fuck Satan. In the end, he loses. He's evil, he's corrupt, and his followers are the same. I'm getting a little tired of your self-serving crap, Jess. I'm almost ashamed to share a name with you. I have little cousins-in-law (if there is such a thing) who are less than 2 years old and have better manners than you. You know, the shoe should be on the other foot - the guy in his 50's should be telling the kid in her late 20's (me) to grow up. It shouldn't be the other way around.... ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"So you stand on the corner in your new English clothes, and you look so polished from your hair down to your toes. Ah, but still your finger's gonna pick your nose after all." - Billy Joel

America does NOT wage war

It responds to it. America forgives millions upon millions of debt. Americans are the most generous and the biggest contributors to international charities. If Australia needs help, who they gonna' call? Crocodile Dundee? And just to correct you one more time, the war on terror has NOTHING to do with oil. Put that in your crack pipe.

Okay boys, take it to the room where we can all three debate

I have a few thing to say this time. I created a Forum Topic to hash this out in. WeirdElf's opinion on how Bad the USA is. Respectfully, Rett: "You want change? Let's elect a president and give him total power for a year. At the end of one year he is marched out into the middle of Reliant Stadium in Houston and locked in with 50,000 of the American people. It

is not easy to write an acrostic-to be honest i thought you were being facetious about patriotism are you? If you are please ignore-
infinite_dwarf

facetious?

Nothing of the sort, Pinksheep. Yes, there are sometimes I am fed up with the Federal Gov't and other ripples along the way - but truthfully, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here. I didn't mean for this to turn into almost a direct rebuttal or comments and such posted on other poems, but it seems it went in that direction. Thank you for your comments. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. I

am to be honest tempted to tell you i would not mind seeing a bald eagle , we d'ont have them here , the poem i feel looses poetic feeling with a line like God Bless the USA , is it one of those thingy magic wotsits ,those overused things, cliches? i d'ont know it might not be-i still do all the wrong things in my poetry, such as using an adjective to describe a word when the noun itself holds its own description-will try not to do this-

Directed at Pinksheep

Only a few people in America, Australia, and a lot of other countries can be considered Native, but they were born her and thus are American and/or British/Australians. I can claim Native status because besides being A European Mutt, as Jess put it, I am also Choctaw, Cherokee and Blackfoot and I am proud of my country. It has flaws but is still one of the best countries in the world. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008

Decided to write now on

Decided to write now on this... America certainly is a flawed lover... nevertheless we love our lovers, eh? Every person I have ever met loved their country of origin, the older the more nostalgic. I've never been that much identified with any country, not the country of my birth nor the country of my parents' birth. I have, however, lived most of my life in America and I choose not to be blinded by the self-righteousness of any individual, government or country. However, there are many countries we can learn from.... America has become arrogant. BTW, good poem about a topic that will always engender emotional responses. ~A

LOL Interesting Anna

My fathers side of the family originated in England. Along the way they picked up some Irish blood (btw, 16th century England I had an ancestor names Guido first name, not last) In America I had one ancestor during the Civil War married a Choctaw woman.(great story there) My mothers Family originated in Germany and the Netherlands. My grandfather on mom's side, married a Cherokee woman and my grandmothers side married into both Choctaw and Blackfoot. Thus I am English, Irish, German, Dutch, Cajun French, India Indian, Choctaw, Cherokee and Blackfoot. TMI? Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Aren't we all? But we still say, "God bless the USA." I loved you poem. It was amazing. It's nice to know that although we may not be number one, (who really knows who number one is???) our people still have pride in who we are.
