Thank you - for the reward of another day

I see the lovely Autumn sun
shining through my window
pane,

I do not bolt from bed these
days, not since all the pain,

I lay there and I contemplate,
on what I'll do today,

I could not plan yesterday, for
I did not know today,

Tomorrow seems so far away,
so I'll concentrate on all that is
today,

A happy man I am, for this gift
of one more day,

I may not have tomorrow, so I
will enjoy today,

Thank you, for the reward of
another day

("if I knew yesterday, the pain
I felt today. I would have enjoyed
the previous day)

On 10/08/08 I was back in the hospital with chest pain.
When the Paramedics came to take me. I was laying in
my bed, I pointed to my desk to where my pad and pencil.
The Paramedic asked my wife,
Mame, is your husband a mute?
My wife smiled and politely said,
No, he's just an idiot.....
I love that woman, even in adversity she makes me laugh!!

That's all we can do is just take one day at a time anymore. You start to worryin' about tomorrow, and you just make yourself nuts. Tell your wife no more kinky stuff - it's bad for ya. *wink* heal up quick, ya hear? ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- - "Everyone needs to believe in something. Jess,

thank you for the concern, but if you really where, you'd stop turning off the lights. I'm trying to live here. LOL Eddie

Hi Eddie...

as a poem I think it could be shortened a bit and made stronger as a result, but as a person just reading it is a warming write for all. Your wife loves you, did she give you the pen and paper, somehow I already know she did... tomorrows are never promised but today is here... let us live it! take care of yourself Eddie... one of your poetry friends Richard

Richard,

that's all there is right now, today. and for me: quit is not a word thanks for your comment. I wrote this in the hospital and at the time the poetry didn't matter, I just wrote it as it came. So I'll leave it how it is, even though your right. It also sounded redundant when I read it back to myself. thanks for your candor! Eddie

Hey Eddie

Nicely put... everyone who goes through a hard time now sees a day at a time Thats all the strength God gives me, just for one day... Thanks for a great representation of those who come to realize Not today, I am enjoying looking out the window. What are you looking at? Everything that matters. I enjoyed this poem You had me at the first stanza about the window. Sounds like something my brother said, and then a song was written. A life slowed down to appreciate the moment we are in. Great subject. sincerely, Patty
