Happy Birthday, Jai!
Seems like just yesterday
You were a tiny kitten.
Alone and scared.
You peered up at me, and mewed.
From within the shelter’s cage.
You got yourself in all kinds of mischief.
Leading climbing expeditions up the drapery.
Knocking over plants.
Attacking my toes under the covers.
And helping yourself to my food!
Now you’re grown.
Seven years have gone by now.
And you’re still just as cute as before.
Your purrs comfort.
And warm the soul.
Some say you’re spoiled.
And they’re right.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
So, happy birthday, little ‘un.
In our heart you’ll always stay….
