faith

they taught me to believe

and I do

but not in doctrines

or ideology

I believe in children

and their innocence

I believe in warm sunlight

against my skin

I believe in things

that I can touch

and taste

and see

and a few things

that I cannot

I believe in anything

that is beautiful enough

to deserve my faith

and a few things dark enough

to ignore

I believe in the power

of love

and hate

and emotions

that cannot be defined by words

I believe in life

and death

and a world

somewhere between them both

and I believe

that I have the power

to appreciate

my faith

and make you

believe it

too

The poem says it all, I sometimes refer to myself as a spiritual atheist or being pragmatically spiritual. I love the way you can express yourself so profoundly while retaining readability and accessibility. cheers, Jess p.s. the pic is sexy and don't fuck with me, not bitchy.

look like an old goat. And good for you. Dare I say I see thoughtfulness, earnestness, the slyest smile, alertness, pensiveness, a quite evident true-to-selfness, playfulness ... etc., etc.? Your "old goat" comment just cracked me up. There's a story behind the reason, and I think you just convinced me to post a silly/stupid little piece that I wrote after a strange personal experience with a goat a few weeks ago. We live in the country, all flat and fields. Somehow, a stray goat managed to find its way into my yard around 10:00 one evening. The poor thing must have been partially blind, as he was albino. I found him bleating and running in circles beneath our motion light. Yes, I video-taped it. No one would have believed me if I hadn't! At any rate, I took so much teasing for it that I eventually wrote a silly (rhyming!!!) poem about the encounter. That's my goat story. Thank you for your constant support regarding my writing. I appreciate all your comments - although so many comments about my new picture have me nearly convinced to replace it with some scary hag! I don't take compliments well, but thank you. :) Best, Ronda
