A Fateful Day in College (a final dedication)

Remembering the first day I met you.
Red skunk stripes through your bleached hair.
In stark contrast, those gleaming blue eyes.
My jaw instantly dropping to the floor.

Quiet, and intelligent, you quickly piqued my interest.
Someone I could converse with.
And have them know what I was talking about.
A welcome relief from the other juveniles.

You and I were assigned to the same study group.
Call it coincidence, I call it fate.
We started hanging out after class.
And it all started there.

Over six years later, we're still here.
We're preparing for the ultimate bond.
You've lost your skunk stripes, but still make my jaw drop.
Still render me speechless.

And one day when we're old.
I'll look back on those days, and I know
None of our magic will fade.
And I will be a better person.
Because I love you not just for who you are -
but for what I am when I'm with you.....
