Walking on the beach, under the full moon with Elaine

We were calmly walking on a beach of a small, magnificent Greek isle.

We were holding hands, we were fervent lovers; we passionately kissed for a while.

The beautiful, charming golden beach was empty, there was no one to be seen

and we walked for hours along the enchanting beach, and still; no one was in the scene.

There was silence in the still of the night, peace and silence nobody could breach

and all we could hear was the wonderful sound of the calm waves gently sweeping the beach.

We didn’t say a word, we didn’t want to disturb the quiet peace,

it was so calm, so serene, we didn’t want the wonderful silence to cease.

The sea overwhelmed us with its splendid deep, dark color of blue

and the wondrous golden reflection of the splendid full moon besieged us both too.

We were dazzled by the absolute beauty of the bright August full moon

and we were in awe by the loveliness of the crystal clear starlit sky. We prayed it all wouldn’t end too soon.

We were embracing, we exchanged amorous looks but our minds were elsewhere.

Our minds were racing to the full moon, the starlit skies, the mere beauty everywhere.

We were dreaming, we were picturing the enchanting August sky as a different world;

a world of peace, a world of love, a world of justice; we were picturing an ideal world!

The resplendent full moon and the bright clear skies made us both dream.

We thought of real hope, true equality, genuine fraternity, deep amity, true esteem,

our feelings vividly pictured pure romance, real tenderness, passionate adoration, genuine worship.

We were holding hands and we just kept walking, walking and dreaming…

Thank you for your support, I liked this poem although it wasn't as popular as I expected. I hope you can visit such a beach in Greece one day! Your friend Dimitri
