A life of torture, a life of bliss...

Life is a cycle, a cycle of chance, there are times  of  blissful happinessAnd then there are times of distress. The first years of my lifepassed with pleasant ease
I knew no strifeeverything was mine to seizeyes, all was rifeit was a summer breeze,I went around the whole wide earthI enjoyed everything with ease. Then came a day of dearthI was brought to my kneesall my money was gone in a flash, then came serious disease, and even worse, then came drinking with a dash. It all brought me down to my knees.I had to stand up to my own two feetI had to try and seizeany challenge I would meet. And so indeed I truly did.I overcame every trouble I could treat.Today I’m my habitual self, I’m rock solid,I lead a regular life again,I’m a happy man, a man with no pain. Then in a twist of fate, a twist I can’t explainmy life took an even more pleasant turnI fell in love with Elaine,a woman that would make my heart burn. We’ve been together ever sinceliving in absolute, romantic, loving bliss. So, you see, life has its own cycles of Eden and the abyssYou fathom the bottomsAnd you relish the tops…
