Stained Glass

 we had no choice...

we were a little row of innocents   looking as if we derived from a single egg   wearing identical uniforms of wool   kneeling in a symmetrical wooden pew   with dimpled folded hands   praying that our fingers spared the ruler   for intertwining fingers    while conjuring up a sin or two   preparing for our penance.   we had no choice... we had no voice... we do now

Catholic girl.....

Sounds to me like you went to a parochial school, as did I, and like all good students, were preparing for your confession. I always made things up on the fly as the amber door slid open. This poem brought back memories......am I close?

LOL…Hit the nail on the

LOL...Hit the nail on the head, so to speak :) I mean, really, what sins did we really have in first grade? I think I told the priest the same one each week. When I was in the 7th grade at parochial school, I pleaded with my parents to go "public." Much to my surprise, they agreed to it. Was much happier...got to shave my legs finally! LOL

I complained as well

but, I've sent my 3 boys to Catholic schools myself. I've forgotten more than my public school educated friends ever learned. I firmly believe in parochial education, especially today.

I went to Public school ...

But my fourth grade teacher was a strict teacher (holding the books at arms lenght)I think that got through to me at a crossroad in my upbringing,I have heard of worse from the chatholic school friends I had. I got the title after reading the comment by Tom. crafty. In ink, David
