blue eyes
blue eyes lost in a crowd
searching for a face
that can make her feel safe
she looks and looks, wandering alone
crying herself to sleep each night at home
the black eyeliner running down her cheeks
mixing with her tears
making them as black as her pain
the pillow is stained and smeared with blood
but the little relief is not enough
she tried harder and harder
searching for a purpose in life
the lines on her skin, etched by hardships knife
makes it easy to see
shes lost and confused, misguided
she goes home and sleeps
when the cops carry her body to the morgue
they say overdose, like it was a disease
and shut the blue eyes that stare unseeingly
accusingly
