IM Machine

It’s always been strange

To chat with your kind

Your faces will change

With different sites I do find.

We chat for a bit

Then move on to another

Perhaps the next will commit

Conversations can smother.

We say what we like

And go onto the next

An IM hitchhike

Sometimes I’m perplexed.

It starts and it’s fast

We chat like old friends

You know it won’t last

It comes to its’ end.

The fruition, you see

It surely must end

It’s an inevitability

There are things to attend.

You hear who am I

And I hear about you

We are always nearby

For a social rescue.

Perhaps boredom of life

Escaping in time

From children and wife

An IM lifeline.

Whether a break from my work

Or much more simple than that

It’s my social cirque

And I do love to chat.

So find me my friend

Familiar face on my screen

My time I’ll suspend

In tales we’ll careen.

We’ll chat and we’ll chat

And wish the other well

You in your flat

Me in my hotel.

We’ll be strangers but friends

‘Til next time we convene

Life as it transcends

On the IM machine.

Nice tribute....

to what online and IM has brought to us. I still prefer the written word though, e-mail. Guess I'm both chatted and wanked out, hehe! Gettin' old ya know, Patrick/Ancient One

Hi Patrick

Age is a terrible price to pay for maturity. I do not think you old yet my friend. You have many fruitful years ahead of work and play. I will look forward to seeing more of your work.

An excellent observation

on modern day communication. Nice work. Kaz It's impossible to smile on the outside without feeling better on the inside.
