my dad observed:
it does you no harm to go to church
even if you don’t believe,
to get down on your knees
for a while
and consider your place in the universe.

Not known for his wit
my dad observed,
of drivers driving fast in fog:
they are going on faith, hope,
and no clarity.

I sense a bit of hypocrisy - or it could just be me, projecting my thoughts about those people who dutifully attend mass every Sunday and Holy Day, rightful Christians that they are. They return home to beat their children, lie and cheat, drive with their eyes closed and believe that those weekly trips to a building that calls itself salvation will save their lives. Wow. Where the hell did that come from?
