Unwanted Company
Always in my ears
Wrestling up fears
Holding back tears
I'm trying to switch gears
You have been following me for years
Pulling me away from my peers
Closed off to the world
Distracting my mind
Unwanted company
An escape I need to find
I need to turn to somebody
Darkness emerged
The shadows are creeping from all directions
Exploiting the plan's imperfections
Read the rest of the poem Show less
They become selfish
Tarnishing every wish
Seeping doubt into my mind
Their wishes unkind
Taking you down from the inside out
The only emotion on your face is a pout
No help around the corner
You feel like a foreigner
Left alone to sit and ponder
These demons we must conquer
Trying to develop the courage
Bringing the brave to the surface
Standing firm, face to face
My turn to win this war
Battles lost leave scars
I choose my fate
Unwanted company
Peaking from behind my eyelids
Giggling like little school kids
Constantly making fun of me
They enjoy seeing me bleed
In my misery, they feed
Demons devour any courage I have
My lifespan halved
Running in an endless loop
Always ending up on the same stoop
I am surprised this has lasted this long
Desmond and Rebecca, grinning
Believe they have me cornered here
But I know there's one fear
The answer has become clear
