SAY IT WITH FLOWERS

SAY IT WITH FLOWERS

A posy of small pink roses, just in bloom
Matched with ribbon and shoes in a lighter pink
A blush of needed colour in any room
The candle is ready to be lit, I think
Just one rose as a buttonhole for the groom
All just hoping he is not the worse for drink
Wedding days should be both serious and fun
Flowers are taken, ceremony’s begun

The bouquet is thrown to the crowd by the bride
For a lucky someone to get married too
It was caught by the young bridesmaid, as she tried
With no current partner, maybe someone new
Standing at the altar with him by her side
Promising to love as married couples do
But the bride today, resplendent all in white
Filled with confidence that she had chosen right

A clever wedding play-by-play - so many internal thoughts of those involved and around. It seems the flowers are the connecting piece that brings this ceremony together. Interesting rhyme pattern, and well done. ababacdd. My only suggestion would be that the 6th lines of each stanza rhyme, (drink and do) bringing the form to a tight, sealed pattern.
Thank you,

nicely done! I really like how you touched on the various elements of a wedding and the emotions that go along with it. You described and incorporated the elements of the photo into the poem very well. Good job!
