Neopoet 101
Neopoet is built to help you grow as a poet.

You’ll find that we are a community of individuals who are kind, sharing, open, and friendly. Please read our community guidelines to get a sense of the guidelines that helped shape our community.

We’re run democratically by our members. There’s a governing board called the AC that is elected by our membership that runs the day-to-day affairs of our site, including appointing key positions, such as the director of the workshop program.

You can submit a poem, on any topic and stage of development, into the “stream”, where it can be read by all members. We also run organized workshops on particular topics. Organized workshops are defined by the syllabus, which describes the goal of the workshop and what is expected from all participants. Workshop poems are included both in the “stream” and on the particular workshop page. Workshops are grouped by “pool”, which describes the focus and intensity of the workshop (more on workshops here).

We encourage you to submit work that’s currently in development. Generally, this means that you should allow time for the community to reflect on your work and respond, and for you to make your own revisions, before submitting another work. We ask, at the very minimum, that you wait 24 hours between submissions, though most of our members wait much longer than that.

You’ll find that you get the most out of Neopoet when you develop strong relationships with other members, and contributing through critique, volunteering, and in chat and the forum is the best way to do this.
