Bukowski floored me...but I like reading all poetry..song writers that send chills up my back, there are too many to mention all of them.. |

Twenty years ago I would have said Stephen King without a doubt, but now I don't have a favorite. I like the non-fiction type now. I cheat and watch book.tv to listen to the latest authors..and sometimes I buy their books. |

Thanks for critiquing my poem…your were very encouraging. Read you Troubador and Lady…
you, stolen from the red headed stranger
…sadly in search of, but one step in back of, themselves and their slow moving dreams…

Hi Ash...
glad to have you here… stick around.. it can be great fun and
entertaining enlightenment… hell, I just like it… hope you
do too…
Richard
Hello
Not offended at all, I admire how frank you’re with me. I just love poetry and spend all my time trying to improve. The funny thing is that I have no training in it… at least I am trying.
So any suggestion is welcomed.
“When the student is ready, the teacher appears…”
well then...
you will fit right in here because we are all seeking improvements and I’d say
most of us love poetry to the extreme here… I thank you for your welcomed
response…
Richard
Richard
you are such a kind, gentle soul.
I truly appreciate all your comments.
I myself am often rash and/or harsh when commenting. I will try to look to you as a model for being kind and polite while staying true and honest.

I thank you for your welcome thoughts…
out there in the world I’ve often been labeled a
hot-head… say the wrong thing and I go off…
my friends say I’m passionate… just a nice way
of saying I will tell you what I think… and out
there, I am much less articulate… here, I take
time to say what I want to but with care because
I believe in writing… I am very passionate about
it and figure most who are here are the same…
I thank you for your support and hope not to let
you or the site down…
thanks

Hi Moonman! I really enjoy
Hi Moonman! I really enjoy your work, and when I checked out your profile, I saw that you are a Bukowski fan. Several months ago I read a collection of his poetry; the book is called ‘Sifting Through the Madness for the Word, the Line, the Way’. He motivated and inspired me as well, which prompted me to write the following short poem. Figured I’d share with you:
‘What Bukowski Taught Me’
Poetry doesn’t have to be
wordy
or difficult
or artsy
or cumbersome.
Poetry doesn’t HAVE to be anything at all.
It is the formulation of your imagination.
It tells the tales of who you are,
where you’ve been,
and where you might like to go.
Poetry is wishes made of words.
It is stories written in stanzas.
That is all.’

I was glad to see you back… and thank you for dropping this poem here,
it is quite good and follows Bukowski’s view (in my opinion) on poetry in
this day and time… I think he did more for me as a writer than any other
that I can think of… unless we talk music, John Lennon, … that man
wrote some fine words…
good to see you back… drop this poem to the stream… it should do well
here…
Richard
You really think it would do
You really think it would do well…?? I wrote it just for me, personally; I wouldn’t think it would get that great of a response. Maybe I will have to post it and find out if you’re right!

Hi, Richard -I was looking
Hi, Richard -
I was looking through the poetry I’ve written, and seeing as you’re a Bukowski fan, I wanted to share one more poem with you that I wrote that was completely and totally Bukowski-influenced. And I promise I will shut up about Bukowski after this!!!
“Sloth”
I have been lazy and vegetative for most of the day.
Ambition officially ended at noon.
I napped.
When I wasn’t napping, I watched trashy TV.
I read celeb magazines.
I didn’t exercise.
When my dog wanted to be walked, I didn’t take her.
I ate bad food.
And lots of it, too.
I tried to make up for all the consumed
empty calories and trans fats
by eating a healthy dinner.
Sauteed chicken over baby spinach.
It coagulated and congealed in my intestines.
Now I lay in bed.
My stomach is swollen and sore.
I wait for sleep.
And hope I awaken vivacious and vibrant tomorrow!

How my old country self could miss something on my own
page, there isn’t an explanation… sorry… ooops.
But your poem was very good, both of them in fact…
that bad-belly was…well, I would say wonderful,
but I’ve had them too often to describe it that way.
post the both of these…

One for you too Richard
The moonman
lonely by windows flung wide
waits with baited breath
for his coming new bride
while the whiporwill sings
he is dreaming of things
of the past
hoping loving keeps flowering
on the end of his pipe
like the curls of the smoke
that dance in the night
while the drink gets so cold
as he’s not yet so old
that he can’t do the tango with me
we all love him to comment he he
he’s a mad-hatted rover
can swing in the clover
just give him a chance and he will
he’s got what it takes in him still.
Love from Ann
Ann...
I don’t know about a tango, but I would surely dance with
you just to see your smile… or laugh, at my awkward self on
the dance floor… lol
thank you Ann for the much needed smile today!

one more for u
All that I know about eyes
Are those eyes doing lie.
If a person wears goggles
All the time
He can’t be ever
Speaking the truth
If you can’t look
Into my eyes and speak
Then you must be hiding
Or else lying or laying
With some one else too
Note, eyes speak for themselves
Pigments and inter- racial
Cross insemination
Can’t be held responsible
For cheating and lying
That has become
Grotesquely rampant
No one can be relied upon
That clearly I can say

hello
Mr moon. i have written a poem or two since i last got some comments on my work from you. i very much enjoyed your insight and would love your input on my newest writings. thank you Richard.
Shatter...
I thank you sir for your confidence in me, and I would be glad to
take a look… will do so today.
thank you!
Richard
Billy...
I’m sure you know you are talented, if not, I’ll tell you now,
you indeed have the gift of the original scribe… You should post
all of these poems on stream… one at a time, and let the rest of
the poets here see your works. I was under the impression you were
leaving, is it fair to assume otherwise now?
I very much like your style, impassioned it is…
Richard
Billy...
Yes, Neopoet can be a bit confusing at first… on the right hand side
of the screen you will see under “general dashboard”, several tabs, submit
a poem, a short story, etc… this is where you want to submit your pieces
to share. The pieces you dropped on yesterday are on several other poets
pages, in the comments section, some of which I have to say were very good
stories, I particularly liked the “absolute truth” one. I can find each one
for you, but they should be showing up on your email as notification links
when someone has commented on them.
If you click on “general dashboard” directly, it will take you to your own
page, click on “view more details”, and it will take you to a page where
your poetry and stories are listed with how many times they have been clicked
on today(updated daily), and a total number as well.
I’m sorry you are having a difficult time, I will be going through your
submissions tonight… I hope I’ve been of some help, if not, let me know.
Richard
Eggshells my ass
Let’s admit it Billy, you got upset because you thought you were posting in one area and you ended up posting in another. It’s not a crime and it certainly ain’t the fault or plot of anyone, it’s just you not quite knowing your way around.
But the bad news is that Neopoet.com will survive without me, without you, without anyone in particular because no matter how talented one person may be, they are not indispensable.
My advice is to calm down the rhetoric, threats, and accusations and just ask for help when you don’t quite understand something because it’s what a real man does.
Now, are we ready to listen and adhere to simple structure or are you waiting for us to re-align out entire site to suit you?
I sent you a PM with additional information which contained a suggestion that you read some of my blogs before you respond. I highly recommend doing so as to assure productive communication.
–Jonathan
