We’re testing a new chatroom. It’s not perfect. Actually, it’s quite fragile. This page address a few things that could go wrong.
“Freezing”
Perhaps you’ll notice this when you type something and you don’t see it on the screen. All your friends will appear to still be in the room– but you won’t see anything from them. Que lastima. We apologize. The best way to recover from this is to to hit the red “X” button on the upper right corner of the blue screen. This will log you out. Then you can try to log in again…
Socket Server Error
If you see a message that says something about a socket server error, either the chat server is offline, or it’s a little overloaded, or it’s just restarting. Don’t give up! Just enter your username and password anyway. You might get through if it comes online. If you are still fustrated, try refreshing the page. This varies from browser to browser, but you can usually refresh a page by hitting the “F5” key at the top of your keyboard.
“Your username is already logged in”
Don’t panic! You haven’t been hacked. Sometimes, if you get thrown off or you exit suddenly without logging out of the chat (or perhaps the server was hit by a heavy dose of cosmic rays), you will get “stuck” in the chat and it will think you are trying to log in twice. Sometimes refreshing the page helps. Just hit the “F5” button on the top of your keyboard. And worst comes to worst… your chimerical alter-ego will be booted from the server after 30 minutes of inactivity. So just hang on and wait. Sorry!
