Mum... You and I

By: Rula

Together we witnessed time ebbs and tides:

we went through ups, we went through downs,

yet luckily we got each other's sides,

you and I, you and I.

Together, unwillingly, we grew old,

with devestating wrinkles, and white hair.

We both raised families, yet we're still bold

You and I, you and I.

Together we laughed, together we cried:

I uplifted your spirits, you got my tears wiped,

we stayed together, side by side,

You and, I you and I.

Together we lived for worse and better,

until Alzheimer's stole you, my bank of love,

although you promised to stay forever

You and I, you and I.

My Gold

By Mr joghe

In whom I spent my old days and nights,

Who rocked me in my cradle;

And fed my pretty mouth with a spoon,

Did weep while I should weep.

How much will I pay

For the pain you’ve taken for me?

Who worked that jumper to keep me warm;

Treated me with diffidence and respect,

Her healthy arms always be my stay,

And always admired my prudent face that filled with laughter.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Who tired me with apology for being tiresome,

And asked twenty questions and never waited for an answer.

My timidity struck her at the first sight;

When she taught me to expect something extraordinary.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I find such a pleasure

In obeying her commands,

That I take care to observe;

Shall soon come to bless me.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I vow, I thought so;

Never, as among queens and princesses

In her age; to be explicit,

I’ve kept very little company

In pretty smooth dialogues with her.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Easter Sunday

We had a nice dinner Easter Sunday
it was the end of March and I drank again
a tad too much tryna numb my brain
and mistook champagne for lidocaine
consumed till I faint, woke up 1 am, I may
have slept over to April's thirst day

On being emotionally bankrupt

Sentient beings distraught
psyche rent asunder
courtesy false accusations
heated words exchanged like gunfire
pox upon the house of Deborah Hunter,
a vicious vindictive
girlish looking septuagenarian woman
buzzfeeding unfounded conspiracy
that the missus steals packages
ever since we moved here
at Highland Manor Apartments

A dance to my April

A dance to my April

With rose dress flattering on the side
And long nylon tale ,tight up with beads
Bright and shiny beautiful month
Singing and dancing through the night

A dance to my April
Flowers blooming and leaves became green
Grateful and gratitude were all over the mood
My month April made aprons to the women's
A dance to my April

By Lehlohonolo Lefera

Fair Weather Friend

Friends can turn
From a mistake
Just misunderstood
The world can shake

I never lied to you
I just played the game
So did you, and I thought
It would always be the same

And yet when you don't
Bother to stick together
How am I the bad guy
For fighting the weather

I'm a manipulator and a liar
Simply for not joining you
Well, you didn't even ask me
What was I supposed to do?

Good Read

Their memories shape and blend who I am.
Those I miss and are no longer here.
They’re like a crazy-long book that feels way to brief,

filled with short stories I never tire of. With each reading
from my book of hearts, I am grateful to the gifted authors
who share with me freely, what they still want to say,
written with love in stories that will always reside there.

For Now and Forever

I wish I could tell you all the things I'm thinking.

How I want to hold onto your arm when we walk

How I want to see you every day

How I want to go hiking with you
at that place you told me about

How I desperately want to know what your hand feels like in mine

How your lips feel on mine...

A glorious sound!

The grey of days
reach in to surround me.
To find a new peace
is where I am bound.
To shake off this feeling
and find a rebound.
To replace my footing
on more stable ground.
The future approaches
and with it a challenge.
To give in, or fight
with a glorious sound!

WHITE WHIPS

A flash of lightning illuminating a
golden staircase and forks with violent
Snaps splitting the dome of vastness
Knifing through the cold blackness

Jumping from the black mamba clouds
Then targeting with wild cracks and
Whips splitting the sky in half
With white sparks

M.I.A.( My Inspiration Always

In memories we're intertwined, eternally entwined,
MIA, you left this world, a precious cousin of mine.
Your laughter echoes, softly in the whispering breeze,
In every sunlit meadow, under shadowed trees.

Your absence cuts like a blade, a wound that won't mend,
In my heart, your spirit dwells, a love that never ends.
With tears that cascade like rivers, I mourn your loss each day,
Yet in the depths of sorrow, your light will guide my way.

Silent Voices

SILENT VOICES

by Laurette van der Merwe

Silent voices ... words of love.
Can I hear you speak from above?

Am I deaf or maybe blind?
Is there joy that I will find?

Help me Jesus to run the race!
Every step at Your pace.

Teach me more that I become less.
Destroy my worries and distress.

Fill my life with something new,
that I may live each day for You.

Give me hope and give me strength, that I may run the race full length.

Hear my voice and see my face.
Give me mercy, give me grace..
