im pressed down on the grasses
watching bees leave the garden
flying south east
up the wall of Ivy and over the slope
of rooftops
the wind is stroking the wall
i can see the patterns emerging
racing like schools of reef fish
green and lively
bees one at a time
bouncing in the currents
like skipping stones
back to the hive
their queen
their purpose
the grass is cool
the soil soft
i could be here forever
as the sky turns from
blue to orchid
im still here when
the first stars emerge
from their deep cocoon
and flicker their silver
wings in the evening air
..O..
