Sonnet XVII - Pablo Neruda (Great Poetry Workshop)

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz
Or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off
I love you as certain dark things to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul

I love you as the plant that never blooms
But carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
Thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
Risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body

Nostalgia

It’s harder to see the light
In the little dog’s eyes
Sonorous sounds replay as soft whispers
No longer resonating like the
Icy floor,
Instead melting like the fleeting
Snowfall upon the grass

The remembrances come easily,
But soon dissipate
Replaced by idleness
With faint impressions left behind

Cello Curves

I close my eyes to see that magnificent curve of woman running from hip through waist.
Companion in flesh to cello
carved by old knowing hands
of master craftsman
who works alone
in a small room,
creating immeasurable beauty.

Carving contours along which I can slowly wind.
Carved with purpose and time,
until the lean of its lines
can wail sadness in gut wrenching, murderous, murky tones.

When just a moment before she left lullaby's in my ear, breathy and sensual.

*Untitled*

Again the rainbow dances across the sky

Singing farewell to the old

Welcoming the new.

Colors of creation

Layers of emotion

Now they leap

Dancing until they die.

still searching..

In search of you
a friend who once spoke
high of a golden world of poetry
and at the helm was I

where in the wilderness
have you amalgamated into thin air,
vanished!
why have you my friend from a poet's life banished,

where amongst the myriads of stars
shall I now find another friend?
my well wisher of your kind

Learn damn it

How can you feel these things I feel?
I am me, and the only one of me.
Each of us is unique in many things
Even Identical twins their own ways

If I am hurting just hold me
Not with your hands you clumsy beast
Hold me with your thoughts
Only those can be the same

If you tell me, I will not listen
I hold my own council in here
It has never let me down
What! Yours has let you drift

Nighttttime

If the light of the Moon
Is to be my crown
And the Venus star; an emerald within--
Then the hold of the night
Is its weight upon my head

CLOUD WATCHERS (Haiku)

Blue eyes blink open
across tattering gray sky
to watch storm depart

Chocolate Men

Men are like chocolates
some to soft, some to hard
some sweet and tasty
some dark and nasty
I’ve tried a few in my time
on some I wouldn’t spend a dime
I like the ones that melt in my mouth not in my hand
add a few nuts, yummm, that’s grand
men are like chocolates
some flavoursome, some not

Found Out

I found out where I’m from
due to a response I made, the other day,
and you could see my past, bubble out of my eyes.

It even temporarily blinded my vision
until I finally realized,
that I was brought up to respond in that manner,

and I was led down a path to where I’m currently at,
and gone were my inhibitions, in the night
for it felt like springtime in my heart.

I had finally found out about myself
and about who I am, thanks to you,
and how you make me want to be a better man;
