WINTERS DAY

When the land is covered
With its blanket of white
And quiet over takes the night
With a beauty that is sublime
I think I am living on clouds
That have fallen from the sky
Complacency seems to overtake my mind,
Forgetting that there are still creatures ,
Stirring in the night.

Hiding and moving in great stealth
Among the mounds
Which have been pushed aside
By the behemoths that clear
The great white landscape
Patiently waiting to bounce
On those that are found frozen
In the mornings light
With terror still in their lifeless eyes
Surrounded by those of CSI

How can beauty of this magnitude
Be so threatening
While my mind is thinking
Of bobsledding
And danger seems to escape
On the threshold of heavens door
Or at lease, it is what I am thinking
While life flows out as I look
At a starry sky from the wet cold floor.

Laying there wondering
Am I a snow angel that has forgotten
How to fly
While a snowman
With black button eyes looks down upon me
As if he were the boatman from the river Styx
Waiting on his coin so I can take the ride
To Hades, which is just on the other side
With creatures that wait to eat my flesh

The winter cold
And the splendor of the snow
Brings to my recollection
That where there is beauty
There is also overwhelming hate
In a world that is paralyzed
By its own fate
Of dog, eat dog
And colder than any winters day

Both beautiful and deadly! My favorite lines:

Personally, I can't wait for warmer weather. Snowy landscapes are ok on picture postcards, but not much fun to live in the midst of. I never thought that I would have to do this again. I was hoping for a release for time served.

Don't know what this is: "Surrounded by those of 'CSI'"

Liked the poem, snow looks like a million diamonds, laying on the ground, but when you grab them they melt like the dreams of rich men. Patty

You are right just like dreams.
