Winter Beach

Hard gray and frozen day
Hunkered down in a dunescape drear
Tight lipped and knee hugging cold
Back to the offshore wind

No gull no footprint seen
As stiffly rising to face an angry surf
Begins an aimless solitary wander
Amid the scattered shells

Tide pool ripples to and fro
Bending reflections past and present
As low rustling sea oat whispers
Soft bring quiet musings

Hard clouds on sand on sea
Be hung in forlorn dismal aspect
Casting the chill sullen vista of
A lover’s eyes gone cold

And so it was and now is
In concert with fate’s flow and ebb
The flotsam and jetsam of years
Lies strewn beyond recall

With one last turn full round
As sole transient on the bleak expanse
Comes the calm anticipation of
Advancing night’s good fire

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Last few words:
Some, after the parade, are content to be alone.

a day in my youth, when I ran away from home. I spent a miserable night, cold and alone and the next day, I was only too glad to return home to the things that were no longer a real bother. Welcome to Neo. and I hope you find what you are looking for here. ~ Geezer

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

I've never been at the ocean's edge in the dead cold of winter but I suspect your detailed description is accurate. Welcome to Neopoet. If you have any problems such as navigating site just ask me or any other member........stan
