Why Me?

Cheeky, sometimes she keeps me up all night
If I’m lucky she’ll let me sleep till 4am
And if I’m really, really lucky
She will leave me to sleep all night long

Even though she is exhausting
Without her
I wouldn’t be able to communicate
With my fellow poets

Nor would I be able to smile or laugh
At all the things she makes me write

Sometimes I cringe when I press “save”
Sometimes I go off to work
Giggling hoping for my reader to do the same

And of course when days are down
She gives me the courage to share with the world

I’m grateful to have her
I often wonder why she chose me?

I'm not totally sure who your sleeping companion might be, but "Cheeky" displays the mannerism of a beloved cat. Our cat, Felix, is more attached to Lynda than to me and pesters her throughout the night, purring at her face like an Evinrude motor. Yes, good question: why did she chose you? Because you are sweet and kind? Dunno--but pets can sense kindness. A sweet poem, much liked. But then, I'm a cat-and dog lover. Jerry

She is my muse! I thought I would confuse you all today lol

She says hello!

How lovely your kind words.

Thank you...Teddy

it was a muse. Our muses get us to write some funny things and keep us up all hours of the day and night. At least mine does. She is fickle, she doesn't want to conform sometimes; and where some of those ideas come from? I don't know, but I'm sure glad that she choose me. Thanks for this little poem that celebrates, either a cute little kitten or a muse. ~ Geez.

I love my muse she was missing for a long time I'm glad she is back

be nice to her, feed her lots of canned tuna, shrimp and liver--and don't forget to brush her daily. Does she shed? I mean your muse? (tricked again by a wily woman, lol).
