Where's Santa

Introduction:

I can’t say for sure if this story is true
But I’m thinking it’s time I share it with you.
The spirit of giving was put to the test
It could only survive if the world did it’s best!

Location:
The North Pole
One week before Christmas

Prologue:

‘Tis almost Christmas; St. Nick’s disappeared!
His wife found a note with a chunk of his beard.

The Note:

“WE’VE GOT YOUR SANTA! HIS BEARD IS THE PROOF!!!
GIVE US OUR RANSOM OR HE’LL SOON GO POOF!!!
A SLEIGH FILLED WITH TOYS, IS WHAT YOU MUST PAY!
YOU BEST GET TO WORK WITHOUT ANY DELAY!!!!!!
SINCERELY,
THE ‘BAD LIST’ KIDS

Mrs. Claus was quite frantic and all the elves too!
They were running around; didn’t know what to do.
Mrs. Claus said, “I’m calling Channel Twelve/Two/Two/Five,
I know they’ll help us keep Santa alive!”

Kandy Kane, a reporter from North Pole T.V.
Went on the air for the whole world to see.

“This is Kandy Kane with a story just in.
When you hear my report you’ll agree it’s a sin!
Santa’s been kidnapped by those on his ‘Bad List’
And he needs your help or he’ll cease to exist!
They’re not asking for money, instead they want toys,
The ones they missed out on as bad girls and boys.
If your kids have toys and say it’s okay,
PLEASE help Nick out, and send them this way!
By noon Christmas Eve the Nick-nappers must know
Their sleigh filled with toys is ready to go!
That’s when they’ll call me so I can arrange
How they want to make the sleigh-for-Santa exchange!”

It’s said at that moment the whole world went still
For this was a very big order to fill!
Then suddenly the planet started to shake
As though it were having a major earthquake!

Parents and children were scrambling around
That was the cause of the trembling ground.
They were running all over to gather up toys
Ones they would give the bad girls and boys.

Back at the North Pole:

Nobody knew Nick’s captors were there
And hiding out in their hidden liar
They were watching closely as toys came that way
And watched Kandy loading them into the sleigh.

One said, “I’m thinking we’ve goofed! Done something wrong!
And on Santa’s ‘Bad List’ is where we belong!”

Santa overhearing said,

“Sounds like your thinking is finally right!
I’m pleased that you’ve gained some important insight!
And, by kidnapping me you’ve done one thing good!
You’ve united the world the way no one else could!
Now the spirit of giving is stronger than ever
And your naughty act turned out rather clever!
Go call Kandy to tell her I’m free!
And I’ll meet her under the Pole’s Christmas tree!
Then you must agree to return all the toys
Proving you’re no longer bad girls and boys!”

Noon Christmas Eve at Channel Twelve/Two/Two/Five:

“This is Kandy Kane and I’m happy to say
Santa’s been freed on this very day!
Nick’s captures are asking to come on the air,
They want to apologize for causing despair!”

“The spirit of giving is what we never knew!
But we’re starting to get it, and that’s thanks to you!
As kids we were always misunderstood
Cuz we made mistakes though we tried to be good!
Our parents said Santa would just pass us by!
We didn’t deserve to see reindeer fly!
At first hearing those words made us quite sad,
Then after awhile, they made us real mad!
So, we decided this year we’d get our missed toys
Making sure they’d come from you GOOD girls and boys.
But, when the world came together to help St. Nick out
We finally realized what giving’s about!
We’re so very sorry we grabbed you St. Nick!
And promise we’ll never pull the same trick!
Also, thanks everyone for the way you came through!
Please know that we’re truly grateful to you!

Epilogue:

Santa decided to tear up his list
Sometimes being naughty is hard to resist!
He’s aware most people want to do good
Trying their best to behave as they should!

He offered his captors a ride in his sleigh
So they could return all the presents that day.
They could also deliver the ones that were new
And for learning their lesson, they got something too!

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Last few words:
I'm not sure about the advanced formatting and because of that stuck to the simple. The way I have it in my documents included different fonts for whoever's speaking as well as bold print in some places and red in others. But I think you can get the gist of the story without all that and hope you enjoy the read!

Hi Jerry,
Your review definitely put a smile on my face! I'm so glad to know the story read the way I hoped it would! I also want to thank you for your suggestion of adding 'do' in the epilogue! Sometimes when I'm proofing my work, I think the word's there, even though it's not. Long story short, the word 'do' was supposed to be included and in my minds eye it was, but only in my mind's eye. So, again thanks for pointing that out to me cuz it's there for real now :)!

Best wishes,

val

The jolly old Skypilot will be clocked in from our situation room
here soon! I still watch the show on radar broadcast as I did
as a child and adult!

amazing poem! happy Santa got out of the clutches of tyranny
and reprogrammed his captors
No need to blast em with Hard Rock Xmas tunes
or waterboard...a little labor camp privilidge
will re educate them in no Time!

Excellent work!

Thank U!
Mr Wolf!

I hope if I'm ever in Santa's situation you'll be around to send in the 'F-18's with GBU's on pod,' .....although after just reading up on what they are, I think that may be a bit extreme...maybe call 911 first at least...LOL!!!!! Now the tracking on radar thing does rather cool! As far as the Christmas tunes....that's all my boss plays at work, so my head if filled with 'Silent night, Jingle Bells, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Oh Holy Night,' and any other one you can think of. It's a bit of over kill! Labor camp sounds like it would work just fine!
Thanks Mr. Wolf for your safe guarding input! Truly love your creativeness!

we had a dinner hosted by another couple
the year before we threw the shindig
there were many affordable gifting
and a most well made delicious meal
the little cook shone it through!
a Bros...swearing the allegiance
to standing tall..the last of the old
schoolers...He grew up with only sisters
father ailing...
both the girls from a small mining town
when the flags were flying
now its quieter with logos

stove element on the blink
the bottom....gotta run about
in my new clothes..
New jeans from cousins
new shirt...a masculine look
from the tall legged hipster
dandy in torn patched jeans
New black kid leather gloves
cherry cigars
Always a tight run through
the end of the month
xmas no exception
but Just...just make it!

family is what it is
a little pack
we are not alone
although I slink off
to the decadance
returning

in the mall there
was not the madness
of other years...
agitation
but a steady moderate
movement
On the street the
Merry Christmas

sometimes the lag
and lack of that
buffeting ire and
unrest is what is
not spared nor given
in human warmth
or charity to others
or the care to the
self...as in not the
indulgences..but
the spirit more so
being a salvage
of what the ego
and self removes
of the repository
of good cheer..

sauve over savage
a harder act to
follow

the glow of the meal
and gifts retain their
meaning of the
sharing and exchange

the future's uncertian
and the end is always
near....let it roll baby
roll.....

maybe my raggedy
act needed a change
a time for more
needful adress
instruction and
formative cognition
of being approachable
will indeed like the
holiday spirit be
carried with more
faith within...

Merry Boxing day!

Mr Wolf!

I just wrote this rather long, maybe a bit rambling, reply to you and it disappeared on me before I could save it! Not quite sure how that happened but it did....oh well not worth stewing over! So, this will be a tad bit briefer which for your sake may be for the better!
Anyhow, thanks once again for your detail 'story' and thoughts about your last evening's dinner. It sounds as though you were a good soul clad in your studdly sound attire to run out to help with the broken stove issue! Definitely a 'holiday spirit' act! And speaking of the 'holiday spirit,' i believe it to be gratifying to those who are on the receiving end and good for the person's ego who is displaying it...so, a win, win, right?!
And I know a bit about this time of year being tight till the end of the month with both my sons having birthdays and celebrating Christmas, plus my grandson, who I can't believe is gonna be 5 end of January. When married we used to entertain every new years day. open house for 70-100 people, so back then the month really kept me busy, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Now on my own, and not having what I once did, I'm learning the need to be more aware of what I can do and not do, which is a definite positive! But still when it comes to getting stuff for my 3 'favorite guys' I like going out on the limb, just maybe not as far out. I try to come up with a couple of things I know they wouldn't get for themselves. My older son, so artistic, I found a pen that uses colored filaments instead of ink to create 3D images, in the video i watched someone make the Eiffel Tower ....so cool! I can't draw or paint but I may have try my hand at one of those pens. And for younger son, who tends to over think everything and needs to find a way to chill a bit, a jellyfish aquarium with 2 lifelike jelly fish, that change colors. The aquarium itself creates a tranquil feel we could all probably use. And for both a psychic reading by a woman I've gone to who's know throughout this country and i believe internationally as well. She and her husband are so spiritual and I pick up their vibe every time I enter their store! Oops have been rambling but that's what we both tend to do....which I find to be interesting when it comes to getting a better feel of you!
Ok so this one is long too...like the one I lost!
but now I really need a break!
Oh one last thing...about Boxing Day.... 2 theories of it's origination which you probably already know cos u seem to be so on top of trivia as well as other things:
1) started in the UK way, way, way, back in the day, the aristocrats would give their servants their presents (in boxes) the day after Christmas and it was considered part of the overall holiday
2) churches would open their collection boxes in order to help out the needy
Now a few other countries celebrate it as well
This year my bosses decided to give us the day off....1st time in 4 yrs I haven't worked a Monday so it feels like another Sunday!
Long story short Mr Wolf
VERY MERRY BOXING DAY!

and jellyfish
Bunni loves bats!
I love octopus!
maybe the old whaling stories
my fear of the sea
although when I canoed I loved
the roughest days on our lake
course wore a lifejacket!!

we used to used technical drafting pens
to sketch throughout high school
although its been years since I sketched
still got it though!

freezing rain here...no go no where
So watching Nasa UFO stuff
aliens and whatnot
possible there are more advanced then us
for sure...
quiet night here...
the eventual scrounging for parts will continue!
was nice to actually have someone else put on
the dinner this year!
although the offer from the mom came through!
which was nice!
many wrote with well wishes! the spirit endures!
I glitch systems all the time..
something about the aura
chance and all...
had this my entire life
some people cant wear electronic
stuff.....I believe in this!
thank U for the Merry Boxing day!

Mr Wolf!

many moons ago i went to overnight camp and they had canoes. I used to enjoy it especially if there were enough of us in one so I didn't always have to paddle.....LOL! We went on a few canoe trips one of which was sadly interrupted by a thunderstorm. Needless to say they got us to shore as quickly as possible so as not to be struck by lightening. A truck from the camp came and picked us up. Fortunately we were close enough to civilization to find a phone, cos back then cell phone weren't available.
So Bunni loves bats. I can't say they do a whole lot for me but each to their own right?! Maybe the vampire thing kind of freaks me out so that's why. I love calamari but that's fried squid. I remember seeing some horror movie with an giant octopus....so that was that!
We hit 60 today but it was so gray out couldn't really appreciate the break from the cold and tomorrow back down to the 30's. this time of year we've little sun so with it getting dark so early it can be a bit of a downer. At least the days will gradually start to get longer.
yeah it's nice you didn't have to play host, that can be exhausting at times, though i do kind of miss the entertaining we did when married. we threw some awesome parties if I say so myself and i enjoyed planning them. Nice of your mom to extend an invite too. my folks are gone as well as my older sister so i'm kind of an orphan in that respect but it's all good....my sons and and grandson are pretty cool, and keep me on my toes! hard to believe older one just turned 35, and younger will be 28 New Years Eve....great way to celebrate the coming of the new year...being in the hospital at 9:30am, and having them induce labor....finally at 9:10pm the doc decided he'd best preform an emergency c-section, cos baby was in trouble....turns out cord was wrapped around his neck, but once out into the world he was just fine! The parties I've survived on New Year's Eve once he was old enough to really party (even though not legally old enough to drink, they managed to sneak it in), were crazy to say the least! Now my Eve's have become quiet and serene. They go do their thing and I stay home and watch sappy movies with my dog!
Curious, how do you glitch systems?
I'll let you know if I have any luck with the pen once it comes.
Hope tomorrow is nicer day by you....i think I prefer snow over cold rainy days, as long as the streets are clear.
Good night Mr. Wolf.

Enjoyed the poem and the banter between
you and the Wolf ... sounds like you're in
Buffalo, my wife is from there, such a dreary
place for me but she loved it. She likes the
cold. We're in the Carolina's ... good for me
but summers a bummer for her.

Really enjoyed the poem, great story and
a happy ending!!!

Thanks so much for checking in! And yeah, I guess Wolf likes to ramble which gets my rambling side going....LOL! Cleveland winters can be so depressing! And winter depression is the real deal that a lot of us have to deal with! The sun tends to disappear in November at some pt and teases us by sticking it's shine out every now and then till probably March! The past to winters temp wise haven't been as bad as others, but so far this winter, the schools have closed a couple days already cos temps were in the teens and wind chill made it worse. So, even if the snow isn't bad, kids can't be outside waiting for busses so a lot of schools will close. A friend of mine is in Raleigh for the holidays and she said it was in the 70's when they arrived! I miss those 70 days, on the other hand I hate how humid our summers get. I prefer the west. When married we'd take our sons to Colorado to snowboard, and even if it was cold, the sun was out and it was beautiful!!! Plus, it's dryer so even when hot, it's not humid like here.
And yes, I'm in rambling mode so, I'll simply say, thanks again and:
BEST WISHES for a HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
