On Waratah Nights

I sit in the dark, as far off
the scent of Waratah wafts
reminding me of you,

my mouth curves
a memory, as my face tilts
the moon, her red veils
run up my chest

faraway down the road
we may meet again
across a canyon of time,
our eyes will connect

I often wonder what yours
will dare tell me,
at the first dawning
will a ray of remembrance
burst through your iris ?

or will our words of anger
sour every glance,
turning those blue eyes
opaque

I live in wonder,
I breathe forgiveness
and only god knows
who you are anymore

but the Waratah, ever blooms
of you and sickle moons
in my smiles

so hope lives
in the whispered cries of night,

and maybe only in my heart

All we can do is hope that time heals angry wounds. Only critique is the way you chopped the lines in 2nd stanza. Seems they could be arranged for easier conveyance of meaning....................stan

I'm not entirely happy with my ending and line breaks I'm going to revisit this one tomorrow after I get some sleep. Thanks for reading much appreciated

This is a beaut piece but it is near midnight and all are asleep even the dog is snoring.
This one will need a lot of think and feeling I shall look at it in the morning sun as things will be clearer then.
.
Take to yourself the thoughts of being whole
Then ask if there are things missing
If so search memories to see what should be there
If then there is an empty place or two
Then ask of your inner self what to do
There in the quiet will be the answer true
Nothing is missing it was just you,
Yours Ian.T

You now know the answers to the questions you asked of the "Waratah Nights".
Here you have stressed that your fear of doing something and the roller coaster ride of feelings that come with doubt.
Beautifully portrayed in this piece, knowing a little background to the doubt.
It takes a lot sometimes to bridge a gap of years between people, but as you have found the rewards for having courage and the ability to say sorry no matter what, brings showers of lost love back to you.
Your State flower, as I spent a lot of years in South Africa I love the members of the Proteaceae, family, not sure about their perfume though maybe you are lucky and have one that is perfumed.
I grew Frangipani's in Africa they were so beautiful and their perfume was something to have, I saw some while in Australia, I had one in Africa that was a Deep Velvet Red it was the most beaut flower I had seen for ages.
I am rambling on again, Great write and so much anticipated feelings in there, Yours as always Ian.T

Good to have you return, and great to be carried along on the waft of a Waratah's scent. Sad haunting poem with a feeling that this love lasts, though there can be no resolution. Love Roscoe..

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

Its nice to be back I have been logging some serious time here the last few days lol it can become addictive ... very glad you enjoyed my poem and your right on the money this love does last and there will never be a resolution
