Vanity

Masculinity

He mourns the youth once owned
the smooth tanned skin ,
eyes so blue and dreamy, they could melt
a thousand hearts.

He longs for the taught muscular frame and
well defined chest that made,
grown women weep.

But youth has flown and left in it's stead an imposter.
Thinning hair greying at the temples.
Skin now lined and puckered.

Eyes still bright behind glasses.
Oh he calls to  youth, but it has fled.

He mourns the youth once owned,
 the smooth tanned skin,
eyes so blue and dreamy,
they could melt a thousand hearts.

To see if could pin point what might bother men, when it comes to the ageing process.

I cannot speak for others, but I feel none of this.
I like the cadence of this piece, and the imagery is good too,
and you have captured the emotions of his regret and dare I
say it, desperation, so very well.
But I do not like the title very much, this man's vanity
does not speak of masculinity, to me.

What Guy!

Of what man you speak?
Read my poem
I sent to Shirley
They think it still Stands.
And
You poem will be answered fully.

I wanted to publish it,
But it stood out a bit too much
Twould have hurt
The vanity of men as such
Facing that end
So I didn't want to hurt.

But all young men surpass that stage
When they could erect
By simple fascination
Nay imagination
Now even hand shake
Keeps them awake
And
The night becomes a morn
And
So is your poem for the man,
So suddenly torn,
That he can't stand
Anymore, for that long!

No man in particular (maybe the actor George Hamilton) lol

It's just a writing exercise .
